Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater's upcoming performances at New York City Center feature special collaborations and guest performances with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Sweet Honey In The Rock, and special guest artists in a Judith Jamison Farewell performance closing the season on January 2nd at 7:30pm.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater has successfully toured the UK three times in the past five years, presented by Dance Consortium, but this will be the first time its younger second company, Ailey 2, will appear in Britain.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater is pleased to announce that it will launch the national tour of Second Stage Theatre's production Let Me Down Easy.

Ailey's season celebrating five decades of the timeless classic, Revelations, kicked off last night with an Opening Night Gala Benefit hosted by Honorary Chairs Robin Roberts and Alfre Woodard. The night honored Joan Weill on her 10th anniversary as Chairman of Ailey's Board of Trustees and helped raise $2.7 million for Ailey's programs for children and young people, including AileyCamp and scholarships to The Ailey School. Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater will begin a celebration of 50 years of Alvin Ailey's Revelations, an American classic called a must-see for all people, with special performances, singular events and guest appearances at New York City Center from December 1, 2010 - January 2, 2010. Other related initiatives throughout the year will offer new perspectives on this masterpiece that has been seen by more people around the world than any other modern dance work, and that is a tribute to the resolve and determination of a people and the human spirit.

Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater is proud to announce its selection as a charity candidate in Members Project, a partnership between American Express and TakePart. Starting today, supporters and fans of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater can go online and vote once a week through February 20th to help the organization become one of five charities to share a total of $1,000,000 in funding from American Express. If selected as a winner, funding will assist the Ailey organization in extending its ability to reach a wider global audience, expanding education programs for underserved youth, and providing scholarships for talented young dancers.
