Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater presented the American Voice Award to U.S. Representative John Lewis (D-GA) on Thursday, May 9, 2019.

Amour runs at Charing Cross Theatre from Thursday 2 May - Saturday 20 July. Gary Tushaw plays Dusoleil and Anna O'Byrne plays Isabelle. Alasdair Harvey plays the Prosecutor, Isabelle's controlling husband.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater will present the American Voice Award to U.S. Representative John Lewis (D-GA) on Thursday, May 9, 2019. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. the evening will include a cocktail reception in the Bank of America Lower Lobby with a seated dinner in the Molly Smith Study. Tazewell Thompson, playwright and director of Jubilee, will give remarks. Jubilee is inspired by the world-renowned a cappella African American ensemble born on the campus of Fisk University. Rep. Lewis is a graduate of Fisk University. The seated dinner will feature the presentation of the American Voice Award to U.S. Representative John Lewis.

The ADVERTISING Club of New York's 2019 International ANDY Awards, the first advertising award show of the season, has announced its list of the top ten ads it predicts will sweep the 2019 awards season. Fresh off a successful run of Ain't Too Proud at Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Jahi Kearse returns to B Street to play Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the original production Martin Luther King Jr. & The Sound of Freedom as the first play of the 2019 Family Series. Kearse plays Motown founder and record executive Berry Gordy in Ain't Too Proud, a hit new musical about the life and times of The Temptations. Immediately following Sound of Freedom Kearse will join his Ain't Too Proud castmates in New York City for a Broadway run of the musical at the Imperial Theatre, reprising his role as Gordy.
