Michael Riedel reports in the New York Post this morning that a musical based on the famed 1950s television series The Honeymooners. A reading directed by Jerry Mitchell will take place today starring Jim Belushi (Ralph), Peter Scolari (Norton), Rachel York (Alice) and Helene Yorke (Trixie). The Honeymooners follows Ralph (originally played by Jackie Gleason) as an everyman and an underdog who struggled to make a better life for himself and his wife, but who ultimately failed due to his own shortcomings.

Broadway Bares XXI: Masterpiece, the modern-day burlesque spectacular featuring 192 Broadway dancers, made history Sunday by raising a record-breaking $1,103,072 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The MUNY's production of Legally Blonde The Musical opened June 20 and runs through June 26. Marc Bruni and Rusty Mowery are recreating the original Broadway direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell. Lauren Ashley Zakrin stars as Elle Woods, with Matthew Hydzik starring as as Warner Huntington III, Sara Sheperd as Vivienne Kensington, D. B. Bonds as Emmett Forrest, Ken Land as Professor Callahan, Lisa Howard as Paulette, Tiffany Engen as Serena, Taylor Louderman as Margot, K. B. Hart as Pilar, and Nikki Snelson as Brooke Wyndham. The first production photos have been released and appear below!

Last week, Norbert Leo Butz took a moment during the CATCH ME IF YOU CAN curtain call to thank the company for all of their support and assistance in helping him deliver his Tony-winning performance. This is what he had to say:

Cast members from CATCH ME IF YOU CAN including Aaron Tveit, Norbert Leo Butz, Tom Wopat, and Kerry Butler will make an appearance at the Upper East Side Barnes & Noble for a performance and CD signing on June 28. The events will begin at 4:00pm on the event stage, with doors opening at 3:30 pm (86th/Lex).

One of the most sought-after choreographers and dance lecturers from coast to coast, Rhonda Miller, has been tapped to spearhead Pace University's new Commercial Dance program, the first of its kind in the country.

He joins Susan McFadden as Elle Woods, Natalie Casey as Paulette, Carley Stenson as Margot, Nicola Brazil as Serena, Siobhan Dillon as Vivienne and Peter Davison as Professor Callahan.

CATCH ME IF YOU CAN captures the astonishing true story of Frank Abagnale, Jr., a world-class con artist who passed himself off as a doctor, a lawyer, and a jet pilot-all before the age of 21. With straight-arrow FBI agent Carl Hanratty on Frank's trail, we're off on a jet-setting, cat-and-mouse chase, as a jazzy, swinging-sixties score keeps this adventure in constant motion. In the end, Agent Hanratty learns he and Frank aren't so very different after all, and Frank finds out what happens when love catches up to a man on the run. In the 2010-2011 season, PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT was honored with three Best Musical award nominations from the Drama Desk, Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Award organizations. Olivier Award nominee Tony Sheldon has also received a Tony Award nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical in addition to Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Drama League nominations and the Theatre World Award for outstanding Broadway debut. Sheldon was also honored with a Tony nomination as were costume designers Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner, who took home the prize. In celebration of the nominations, the company took the stage at the 2011 Tony Awards on Sunday with a performance of 'It's Raining Men' with the song's composer Paul Shaffer and original songstress Martha Wash. Just imagine the Broadway's hottest dancers strutting their stuff and stripping down to the brassy music by Matthew Sklar and the saucy lyrics by Chad Beguelin. 'Going, Going, Gone' was produced by Mike Croiter and Doug Derryberry at Yellow Sound Lab.
