Richard Bonynge to Lead First-Ever NYC Masterclass, 10/9

One of the world's leading opera courses, known for its intensive training opportunities for talented young opera singers in the art of Italian opera and song, the Georg Solti Accademia was founded in 2004 to honor the memory of the legendary Hungarian conductor Sir Georg Solti. Kicking off the Accademia's 10th anniversary this fall, the organization presents its first-ever New York City public masterclass featuring Richard Bonynge at the prestigious Juilliard School's Peter Jay Sharp Theater on October 9, 2013.

American Composers Orchestra Celebrates 10 Years of Orchestra Underground at Spring Benefit, 5/22

American Composers Orchestra (ACO) will hold its 2013 Spring Benefit on Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 pm at Tribeca Rooftop (2 Desbrosses Street, Manhattan), celebrating 10 years of Orchestra Underground - ACO's enterprising and elastic ensemble that challenges conventional notions about symphonic music. Originally created for the opening of Zankel Hall, Carnegie Hall's subterranean state-of-the-art auditorium, ACO's Orchestra Underground has played to sold-out audiences, bringing to life more than 70 world premieres and newly commissioned works in the last decade.

Sundance Institute Begins 2013 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation

The Sundance Institute Theatre Program has begun the 2013 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 13th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyo. takes place through February 22 and provides a supportive environment for artists to create new work and receive guidance and reactions to it at an early stage. Under the supervision of Philip Himberg, Artistic Director of the Theatre Program, and Producing Director Christopher Hibma, the Playwrights Retreat is made possible through the generosity of Ucross Foundation.

Theatre and Opera director Stephen Wadsworth's new production of Terrence McNally's Master Class starring Tyne Daly as the legendary opera soprano Maria Callas is to transfer to the Vaudeville Theatre following its critically acclaimed, sell-out run on Broadway. Master Class, produced in the West End by Max Cooper, Maberry Theatricals, the Marks-Moore-Turnbull Group, Ted Snowdon and Sonia Friedman Productions in association with the Manhattan Theatre Club, will run at the Vaudeville Theatre for 14 weeks only from 21 January to 28 April, with press night on 7 February 2012. Set design is by Thomas Lynch, costume design by Martin Pakledinaz, lighting by David Lander and sound by Jon Gottlieb. Tickets are now on sale for Master Class and further casting will be announced shortly.
