Nederlander Alliances, LLC and Pittsburgh CLO, co-producers and founding partners of The National High School Musical Theater Awards, presented the first annual Jimmy Awards in a ceremony held last night at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts, New York University. The Jimmy Award is named in honor of legendary Broadway theater owner and producer James M. Nederlander. The award features an illustration of James M. Nederlander drawn by world renowned artist Al Hirschfeld.

Two local winners in Starlight Theatre's 2009 Blue Star Awards competition depart this week on a five-day journey to New York City, where they'll participate in the first annual National High School Musical Theater Awards. Johnson Countians Samantha Steinmetz, 18, and Keegan Rice, 17, are among 32 teens who will compete for The Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor.

Student winners of the North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) 4th annual Spotlight Awards were announced at an exciting Tony® Award-style program on the NSMT main stage Tuesday, June 2, 2009. The NSMT Spotlight Awards program is designed to honor the accomplishments of high school students and teachers as well as encourage them to achieve the highest levels of excellence in musical theater. This year's program included 22 high schools and over 1,000 students vying for 15 awards, including the prestigious award for Best Overall Musical, and a chance to participate in the first National High School Musical Theater Awards in New York City.

North Shore Music Theatre (NSMT) announces the nominees for the 4th annual NSMT Spotlight Awards. The Tony® Award style program is designed to honor the accomplishments of high school students and teachers as well as encourage them to achieve the highest levels of excellence in musical theater. This year's program involves 22 high schools and over 1,000 students, and will culminate in an awards ceremony on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at 7:30pm on the NSMT main stage. The event is open to the public and a donation of $10 per person will be requested at the door.

WICKED Bids LA Farewell, Leaves Happy Fans and Broken Records in its Wake

The Los Angeles production of WICKED closed last night (Sunday, January 11th) at the Pantages Theatre, after playing 791 performances and 12 previews. It has entered the record books as one of the most successful musicals in Los Angeles theatre history. This production is now transferring to the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, where it begins performances on January 27.
Jersey Boys Celebrates First Year Chicago Anniversary!

The record-breaking Chicago Company of Jersey Boys, the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons, is thrilled to celebrate its first anniversary in Chicago on Tuesday, October 14, 2008. In celebration of this major event, a new block of tickets for performances through April 12, 2009 will go on-sale to the public at 10 a.m. Jersey Boys will also hold a citywide lunchtime pizza party, giving away 4,000 slices of Home Run Inn Pizza at various locations throughout the city, from noon - 1 p.m. and present a special anniversary performance at the Bank of America Theatre that evening at 7:30 p.m.
