The Tony Award-winning Oregon Shakespeare Festival will celebrate its 75th anniversary this season, and while patrons will notice celebratory signs and banners as well as opportunities to sit in on historical lectures and talks throughout the season, the primary celebration is onstage. OSF has promised its audiences, to whom it has dedicated this milestone season that it will continue to focus energies on producing great plays this year.

The Pearl Theatre has announced casting for its next production, Stephen Jeffreys' adaptation of Charles Dickens' Hard Times. The show, directed by J.R. Sullivan, runs February 5 - March 28 at New York City Center Stage II. J.R.

THE PEARL THEATRE COMPANY has announced that actress and director Amy Wright will direct the company's spring production, THE SUBJECT WAS ROSES. Ms. Wright replaces the previously announced Sheldon Patinkin, who has withdrawn from the production due to recovery and rehabilitation from recent surgery.

The cast will include company members Steven Boyer (Bentley Summerhays), Robin Leslie Brown (Mrs. Tarleton), Michael Brusasco (Joey Percival), Bradford Cover (Johnny Tarleton), Dominic Cuskern (Lord Summerhays), Dan Daily (Mr. Tarleton), Sean McNall (Gunner), Erika Rolfsrud (Lina Szczepanowska), Lee Stark (Hypatia Tarleton). In what the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Artistic Director Bill Rauch and Executive Director Paul Nicholson can only describe as amazing, OSF's 2009 season results have exceeded all expectations. Initially anticipating a slump in the 2009 season attendance and revenue, the Festival closed with record attendance of 410,034 (89% of capacity), and record revenues of $17,098,115.

The Pearl Theatre Company production of ‘The Playboy of the Western World' begins performances at New York City Center Stage II on October 2. The show officially opens Oct. 11 and runs through Nov. 22.

Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Bill Rauch has put the finishing touches on the design teams for OSF's 75th anniversary year. The 2010 season was announced in March, but a few directors had not yet been announced.

Brian Vaughn has been an actor at the Utah Shakespearean Festival for fifteen seasons. He has played such roles as Cyrano de Bergerac and Hamlet. And this year Brian Vaughn returns to the Festival to play one of the Shakespeare?s most powerful kings: the title role in ?Henry V.?
