Hugh Jackman Confirms Broadway Return in Jez Butterworth's THE RIVER Later This Year

Hugh Jackman withdrew from the 2015-16 Broadway run of HOUDINI due to scheduling issues, but it seems he has found another project more in line with his busy career. As BroadwayWorld previously reported, the stage and screen star was rumored to return to Broadway in Jez Butterworth's play THE RIVER. Now he has confirmed in an interview with the New York Post that he will lead the play 'later this year.'

Initial casting for Arthur Miller's The Crucible is announced. Richard Armitage, Anna Madeley and Samantha Colley are to play John Proctor, Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams in Ya?l Farber's new production at The Old Vic, with previews from Tuesday 24 June. The cast also includes Sarah Niles, Rebecca Saire and Zara White, with further cast to be announced.

The Old Vic today announced its programme for Summer/Autumn 2014. The CQS Space, The Old Vic in the round, will be home to the whole season of productions, continuing after Other Desert Cities which opens this month. The plays will be performed in the round, a transformation of The Old Vic's auditorium first seen for the award-winning 2008 production of The Norman Conquests. The season of productions is supported for the fourth consecutive year by Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

St. Ann's Warehouse will present the American Premiere of Kate Tempest's Brand New Ancients, which garnered considerable critical acclaim and the prestigious Herald Angel Award at this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Tempest is also the first winner under 40 of the TEd Hughes Poetry Award. Brand New Ancients, which will run from today, January 10 - 19, continues the St Ann's Warehouse tradition of introducing American audiences to exceptional theater artists and companies from across the pond, including Kneehigh, Enda Walsh, Stephen Hoggett, John Tiffany, and Daniel Kitson, who first recommended Tempest to St. Ann's Artistic Director, Susan Feldman. A co-production with Battersea Arts Centre on Tour, Brand New Ancients will run for eight performances at St. Ann's Warehouse in DUMBO (29 Jay Street, Brooklyn).

Ian Rickson's critically acclaimed revival of Jez Butterworth's award-winning Mojo will complete its run on 8 February 2014 as previously announced. Earlier this month, Mojo, which has been playing to packed houses at the Harold Pinter Theatre since its opening in October, announced an extension to its West End run due to public demand.

Ian Rickson's critically acclaimed West End revival of Jez Butterworth's award-winning Mojo today announces a further two weeks of performances due to public demand. Mojo, which is playing to packed houses at the Harold Pinter Theatre, will now complete its run on 8 February 2014 with its original cast - Brendan Coyle (Mickey), Rupert Grint (Sweets), Tom Rhys Harries (Silver Johnny), Daniel Mays (Potts), Colin Morgan (Skinny) and Ben Whishaw (Baby).
