The cast has been set for the world premiere of Gatsby, an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s legendary novel, opening at American Repertory Theater in May!

The design and music teams have been announced for the world premiere of Gatsby, featuring music by Florence Welch and directed by Rachel Chavkin, at American Repertory Theatre. 

One of the greatest parts of being undeniably dedicated and addicted to musical theater is that you are constantly surrounded by a plethora of individuals who share the same passion; especially in high school. High school is abnormally the "best and/or worst time of your life" in just a mere four years. It is a one of the most formative times in an individual's life, when one truly begins to become the sort of individual that will carry them well into adulthood.  This is why the performing arts are vital in my personal high school career. If I am unhappy with my own life, through theatre, I am afforded the ability to step into another character's shoes and "become them" practically every day. Because I am so active in theater, my entire friend-base consists of other thespians that I have performed with in the past. These bonds and talents exist, not only in the local community theatre troupes, but in my own high school's theater program as well.  I believe the incredible ability to work together on stage in spite of personality conflicts, extreme exhaustion at times, vast differences in age, and the daily "drama" of a typical high school student's life is one of the factors that makes the Hilton Head Christian Academy's drama department so successful and why it has been a major component in shaping so many spectacular young adults.

The busiest times of the musical theater world is quickly coming amongst us, especially for high school thespians- spring show season. Community and local theaters are either holding auditions or waiting for a stressful week of tech before productions that have the potential to be massive moments in the theater and community history.  For high school students, this is the most exhilarating, yet draining, season of the year. Fortunately- I am one of these students. 

Red Bull Theater today announced that their Twelfth Season will continue with Shakespeare's Coriolanus, directed by Michael Sexton, on Monday March 7th at 7:30 PM, at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, between Bleecker and Hudson).  Featured in the cast will be Estelle Parsons (Academy Award winner for Bonnie and Clyde and nominee for Rachel, Rachel, five time Tony Award nominee),  Chukwudi Iwuji (Olivier Award-winning Henry VI Trilogy at the Royal Shakespeare Company, TFANA's Tamburlaine, NYSF's King Lear), Matthew Rauch ('Banshee'), Jay O. Sanders ('Person of Interest,' 'Law & Order: Criminal Intent'), along with David Barlow, Louis Cancelmi, Henry Clarke, Kimiye Corwin, Autumn Dornfeld, Emily Gardner Hall,  Peter Francis James, Merritt Janson, Ian Lassiter, Michael Schantz and more. Coriolanus will be a co-presentation with The Shakespeare Society.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.redbulltheater.com or by phone at (212) 352-3101.

Wild and wacky fun, just in time for the holidays, is onstage when Philadelphia Theatre Company presents the hilarious McCarter Theatre/Arena Stage production of Ken Ludwig's Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery running November 27-December 27 at PTC's home, the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Directed by Amanda Dehnert, the ensemble cast features Henry Clarke, Crystal Finn, Adam Green, Ron Menzel, and Matt Zambrano.

In attending the newest work from Sandy Rustin, The Cottage, a 2014 Reva Shiner Comedy Award finalist, you will feel inspired watching an original production being developed. This hilarious story, inspired by the works of Noel Coward, runs through September 6th at the gorgeous John W. Engeman Theatre of Northport, Long Island.
