Seton Hall University's School of Diplomacy and International Relations and College of Communication and the Arts are pleased to announce that Newark, New Jersey has been selected for the New Jersey premiere of Prayer for Peace. Inspired by Leonard Bernstein's artistic mandate the classical music concert dedicated to music's role as an instrument of peace will take place Friday, October 27, 2017, at 8 p.m. at NJPAC's Prudential Hall honoring Discover Jersey Arts Month and the National Arts and Humanities Month celebrated each October.

In a recent interview with Daily Beast, playwright Tony Kushner chats about one of his current projects- WEST SIDE STORY. Kushner is rewriting the book for the classic movie for director Steven Spielberg. Don't expect any changes to the score, however. "I am not touching in any way the greatest score of a musical ever written,' says Kushner. 'I love the [1961] film. Who doesn't? I am not changing the story, the setting, the period. It is still the Upper West Side in the late 1950s, but I'm exploring the story.'

In a recent interview with the Daily Beast, playwright Tony Kushner opens up about his new play about the Trump presidency. 'The nightmare is in high gear,' says Kushner. 'It certainly feels like folly that I or anyone else has a definitive understanding or comprehensive understanding of what going on. I have my guesses like everyone else has, but it will take some time and a lot will depend on how it is resolved.'
Santa Barbara Youth Symphony to Perform 'Brundibár'

Members of the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony will take part in a fully staged production of Brundibar, Jewish Czech composer Hans Krasa's uniquely affecting children's opera, at the Libbey Bowl in Ojai on Saturday, May 13, and at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara on Saturday, May 20.
SB Youth Opera to present BRUNDIBAR

The Santa Barbara Youth Opera, in collaboration with Ojai Youth Opera and the Santa Barbara Youth Symphony, will present a fully staged production of Brundibar, Jewish Czech composer Hans Krasa's uniquely affecting children's opera, at the Lobero Theatre on Saturday, May 20. Performances will take place at 2:30 and 5 pm. Tickets cost $22 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.

The Amernet String Quartet, Ensemble-in-Residence at FIU, will lead the inaugural year of the FIU Jewish music series – a five-part concert series entitled “Journey Through Sound: Exploring Jewish Life Through Music.” (Cick here for more information: http://bit.ly/JewishMusicSeries) Presented in partnership by both the FIU School of Music and the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU (JMOF-FIU), the collaboration will feature relevant exhibitions and a varied program of music from distinguished guest artists, members of the Florida Grand Opera (FGO), FIU alumni, and the Amernet String Quartet.
