Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) continues its 2016-17 staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of TORN ASUNDER, written by Obie Award-winner Nikkole Salter and directed by Janeece Freeman Clark. This staged reading will be performed for one night only on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 7pm at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. Maplewood, NJ), where MDR is the resident theater company. The reading is $15 (advance purchase), $20 (if purchased at the door) and open to the public. Student/Senior discounts are also available. Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) kicks off its 2016-17 newly renamed staged reading series, Theater at The Woodland, with a presentation of THE BURDENS, written by Matt Schatz and directed by Mark Armstrong.

Midtown Direct Rep (MDR) is excited to announce a new partnership with the Township of Maplewood. Beginning with the 2016-17 season, MDR will present its staged readings and other productions as the resident theater company of The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd. in Maplewood, NJ). MDR's newly named staged reading series, "Theater at The Woodland", will take place in the Parlor, and larger productions, such as the well-known annual event Listen To Your Mother, will be held in the Great Hall.

California Shakespeare Theater's 25th anniversary season at the Bruns Amphitheater continues with August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning story of the American Dream deferred, Fences, directed by Raelle Myrick-Hodges in her Cal Shakes debut. Fences, which plays from July 6 through July 31, marks the first time Cal Shakes has presented August Wilson's work on its stage. Block and Sebastian Arcelus in Midtown Direct Rep's staged reading of THE IMPOSSIBILITY OF NOW, a new play written by Y York and directed by Will Pomerantz.  Broadway actress Marni Raab (The Phantom of the Opera) will read the stage directions.

L.A. Theatre Works' audio production of 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' beat out four other finalists to capture the 2015 Audie Award in the Audio Drama category. The sixth winfor the Los Angeles group was announced by the Audio Publishers Association (APA) yesterday at its 20th Audie Awards Gala in New York City.

Tonight's MADAM SECRETARY was a real barn burner Stranger Friends, (or technically a chemical filled silk dye factory burner), as our Secretary went on her first diplomatic visitation to India. I have to say that I was sweating more than the Secretary's Aide Blake during his Indian meal, with all of the twists, turns, and reveals on tonight's episode. Guest star's this week included Corey Cott, fresh off his stand-out performances as Jack Kelly in the recent production of Broadway's NEWSIES, and one of my favorite actors of stage and screen, John Shea, who played one of the best Lex Luthor's ever in THE NEW ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN.

CBS has given full season orders to all four of its new dramas, including the #1 and #2 new series of the season, NCIS: NEW ORLEANS and SCORPION, Sunday's #1 scripted broadcast, MADAM SECRETARY, and the time period-winning suspense thriller STALKER. These pick-ups include three of the top four new shows launched on television this season, and three series that rank among the top 15 of ALL prime time programs.

CBS Studios International and Sky today announced a licensing deal for the exclusive UK broadcast rights to the sophisticated new drama MADAM SECRETARY. The show will premiere in the coming months on Sky Living.
