One of Cleveland's most popular musicals, WICKED, will return to PlayhouseSquare November 18 - December 13, 2009 as part of the U.S. Bank Star Performance Series at PlayhouseSquare. Tickets for the return engagement go on sale to the public Friday, August 21.

During the week of Thanksgiving, Wicked set the record for the highest grossing week in Broadway history. Last week, it broke its own record when it took in $2.09 million over the Christmas holiday.

A day-of-performance lottery for a limited number of orchestra seats will be held daily for WICKED, which will be performing from January 6 - 24 at Philadelphia's Academy of Music.

Michael Riedel is reporting in today's New York Post that Brian Dennehy might be headed back to Broadway in a double bill of Eugene O'Neill's Hughie and Krapp's Last Tape, which is set to run at the Goodman's Albert Theatre in Chicago from January 16 - February 21, 2010.

The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Andrew D. Hamingson) announced early casting for the 2010 Shakespeare in the Park summer season. Daniel Sullivan will direct THE MERCHANT OF VENICE in rotating rep with THE WINTER'S TALE, directed by Michael Greif. The repertory company will feature Jesse Tyler Ferguson (Solanio/Young Shepherd); Jesse L. Martin (Gratiano/Polixenes); Al Pacino (Shylock); Lily Rabe (Portia/First Gentlewoman); Ruben Santiago-Hudson as (Prince of Morocco/Leontes); and Max Wright (Old Gobbo/Old Shepherd).

In celebration of WICKED's return to PlayhouseSquare tonight, November 18, the venue will be hosting a Young Professionals Night on Friday, December 4. Professionals ages 21 - 40 are invited to enjoy free valet parking, compliments of Lexus, at the Wyndham Cleveland hotel and a pre-show cocktail in the Wyndham's Blue Bar before watching the evening performance. After the show, the group is invited to come back to the Wyndham for the exclusive, limited access 'Defying Gravity' post-show party, sponsored by Seagram's escapes, with WICKED cast members in the 14th floor presidential suite. The August Wilson Center for African American Culture - opened last month - has announced its first theater event in the new center, 'The Aunt Ester Cycle,' running November 10 - 22, 2009. The August Wilson Center is located in the heart of Pittsburgh's Cultural District at 980 Liberty Avenue.
