Buffalo Philharmonic Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month With Free Concert, 10/9

Classical music meets the music of Spain and Latin America at the BPO on Oct. 9. The Buffalo Philharmonic and Wendell Rivera Latin Ensemble are joining forces to present 'Viva la Musica,' a free concert celebrating Hispanic music and culture taking place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Kleinhans Music Hall. BPO Associate Conductor Stefan Sanders leads this concert.

Simon Ghraichy returns to Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall for one night only, Friday, October 14 at 7:30PM. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the program, titled 'My Hispanic Heritage,' celebrates Latin American composers (Ernesto Lecuona, Arturo Marquez), Spanish composers (Isaac Albeniz, Manuel de Falla), and non-Spanish/non-Latino composers who drew inspiration from Hispanic culture (French composers Claude Debussy and Maurice Ravel).  The presenter for 'My Hispanic Heritage' is New York Concert Artists.

Following the debut of its Chicago International Duo Piano Competition June 8-11, the Music Institute of Chicago presents its 28th annual Chicago Duo Piano Festival July 8-17. In addition to offering students coaching, lectures, master classes, and recitals, the Festival includes five public events at Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue, in Evanston, featuring guest duo Anne Louise-Turgeon and Edward Turgeon, Festival Founders/Directors Claire Aebersold and Ralph Neiweem, and Music Institute piano faculty, all performing duo piano repertoire.

Palm Beach Dramaworks to Host 'A Musical Soiree' with Evans Haile, 2/23

Noted concert pianist and raconteur Evans Haile, who has been called 'the fire and flame of music,' brings his unique program of music, stories, and humor to Palm Beach Dramaworks on February 23, in A Musical Soiree. In addition to performing compositions by the likes of Frederic Chopin, Claude Debussy, Franz Liszt, Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and Ernesto Lecuona, Haile will augment the music with fascinating stories and observations. The 7:30 concert at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre will be preceded by a cocktail hour in the lobby. Proceeds from the event will go toward refurbishing the theatre's marquee.

River North Dance Chicago Presents Two World Premieres at the Auditorium Theatre Tonight

The performance features "Beast," the choreographic debut of RNDC company member Hanna Brictson, and the all-new "the frost that binds" by three-time RNDC guest choreographer Adam Barruch. Led by 2014 Chicagoan of the Year (Chicago Tribune) Frank Chaves, RNDC continues their 25th Anniversary celebration with this versatile, fresh spring performance.
