Contra Costa Musical Theatre knows how to put on a happy face. You will, too, after two and a half hours of living with Bye, Bye Birdie. Inspired by the likes of Elvis Presley, Ed Sullivan and the bright colors and square designs of the 1950's, CCMT's production features its usual high-tech scenic design and familiar faces in lead roles.

With foot-stomping dance numbers, Technicolor fantasy worlds, and soaring ballads sung by some of the world's most beloved stars, these movies still inspire audiences to laugh, love and dream -- even when times are tough. Gallo Center Adds Art Garfunkel & Chris Isaak Shows to Schedule

Concerts by singers Art Garfunkel and Chris Isaak have been added to the Gallo Center for the Arts' 2014-2015 season. Garfunkel's show is at 7:30 pm on Monday, November 10, while Isaak takes the stage at 8 pm on Friday November 28.

Today in 2009 the first Broadway revival of Bye Bye Birdie opened at Henry Miller's Theatre (now the Stephen Sondheim Theatre), where it ran for 117 performances. Originally titled Let's Go Steady, the satire on American society is set in 1958. The story was inspired by the phenomenon of popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. The original Broadway production was a Tony Award-winning success. It spawned a London production and several major revivals, a sequel, a 1963 film and a 1995 television production.

Legendary singer Barbra Streisand has made music history yet again- this time for having ten of her albums reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Her latest album 'Partners,' was just released on September 16th from Columbia Records, and sold over 196,000+ copies in its first week. This makes Streisand the female artist with the most #1 albums and the first artist with #1's in each of the past six decades. It's no wonder she remains Broadway's greatest export.
