R.Evolución Latina's Evening of Celebration is an annual event that provides a look back on the many accomplishments of R.Evolución Latina in our community.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announced today complete casting for the eight new musicals selected to be part of the 23rd Annual Festival of New Musicals on Thursday, October 27 and Friday, October 28 at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street).

Many of everyone's Broadway and off-Broadway favorites, including: Featuring: William Finn, Jonathan Groff, Sherie Renee Scott, Raul Esparza, Patina Miller, John Gallagher Jr, Krysta Rodriguez, Gideon Glick, Jennifer Damiano, Adam Chanler Berat, Jay Armstrong Johnsen, Annaleigh Ashford, Eliseo Roman, Georgi James, Taylor Trensch, Adam Riegler, Carolee Carmello, Rachel Potter, and more teamed up on the webisode project Billy Green.

WONDERLAND. A New Alice. A New Musical opened on Broadway on April 17. WONDERLAND stars Janet Dacal as Alice, Darren Ritchie as Jack the White Knight, E. Clayton Cornelious as Caterpillar, Jose Llana as El Gato, Karen Mason as The Queen of Hearts, Kate Shindle as The Mad Hatter, Carly Rose Sonenclar as Chloe, Edward Staudenmayer as The White Rabbit and Danny Stiles as Morris the March Hare. With a book by Gregory Boyd and Jack Murphy, lyrics by Jack Murphy, music by Frank Wildhorn, choreography by Marguerite Derricks and direction by Gregory Boyd, WONDERLAND began performances at Broadway's Marquis Theatre on Monday, March 21.

The La Jolla Playhouse is presenting a world premiere musical based on the 2006 Academy Award winning film "Little Miss Sunshine". And while the show had its shining moments and a cast that matched the subtlety and charm of the original sleeper hit, on the whole it needs a bit of a jump start if it's going to make it down the road to Broadway.

The 2006 movie dramedy Little Miss Sunshine was and still remains such a low-key charmer that to attempt to simulate it on stage with music is at once challenging, courageous and perplexing. Why? Why retell a story that is so perfect on film unless you can achieve a brand new and interesting take on it? I guess Spider-Man and other films being translated to the stage is the rage these days, especially when there's a dearth of original musicals. All this aside, the production values, the cast and the very artistic endeavor of the stage musical Little Miss Sunshine, now at the Mandell Weiss Theatre of La Jolla Playhouse through March 27, should be lauded and appreciated.

The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) has announced preliminary casting and final music directors for its 22nd Annual Festival of New Musicals taking place on Thursday, October 21 and Friday, October 22, 2010 at New World Stages in New York City.

The 2008 Tony and Grammy Award-winning Best Musical In The Heights welcomed platinum recording artist and 2007 'American Idol' winner Jordin Sparks on August 19th, making her Broadway debut as Nina Rosario at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre (226 West 46th Street). Sparks will play a limited 12 week engagement through Sunday, November 14, 2010. The cast of IN THE HEIGHTS came together to celebrate Corbin Bleu's official opening in the show with a party on Tuesday, February 23rd at Angus McIndoe.
