'THE 12', an original rock musical written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, Robert Schenkkan, with music, lyrics, and story concept by award winning composer, Neil Berg made its world premiere at Riverspace in Nyack, NY, from March 19 - 21, 2010 before opening the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, April 1st in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Riverspace will end its run of Neil Berg's THE 12 on March 21st before its World Premiere at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, April 1st (Ft. Lauderdale, FL).

First came Hair, then, Jesus Christ Superstar -- which led to Rent and Spring Awakening. Now comes "THE 12", an original rock musical written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, ROBERT SCHENKKAN, with Music, Lyrics, and Story concept by award winning composer, NEIL BERG. The World Premiere preview performances will take place at Riverspace in Nyack, NY, March 19 - 21, 2010 before its World Premiere at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, April 1st (Ft. Lauderdale, FL).

The cast will include Ron Bohmer (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Ragtime) as 'Peter,' Jeremey Kushnier (Rent, Footloose) as 'Thomas,' Lawrence Clayton (Dreamgirls, The Civil War) as 'Matthew,' and Sean Jenness (The Civil War, Doug Flutie Band) as 'Bart.'

Following two nearly sold-out shows during the biggest New York City blizzard on record (February 12 and 13), THE DREAM ENGINE returns to Joe's Pub on Friday, March 24 at 7:00 PM and Saturday, March 25 at 9:30 PM.

Joe's Pub has issued an alert that two of their concerts have been cancelled for the day, Brady Rymer (Good Homes): Every Day Is a Birthday CD release, and Kismet Lyles / Amanda Dumas. The 9:30 PM The Dream Engine, Songs by Jim Steinman concert is still on for tonight, and Joe's Pub will be opening their doors early at 7:30 PM.

The songs of pop songwriter Jim Steinman, who also wrote Dance of the Vampires, will be heard in The Dream Engine at Joe's Pub, for four performances from February 12th through March 25th

Rob Evan, Elaine Caswell, Jeremy Kushnier, and Nicki Richards sang the songs of Steinman at the Mohegan Sun June 9-12, 2005.

I recently sat down in the recording studio with Broadway star Rob Evan, and with record producer Steven Rinkoff for the two to fill me in on one of their most ambitious projects yet. Over the Top: Songs by Jim Steinman is best described as 'an inverted jukebox musical,' and it's coming next to the Mohegan Sun June 9-12.
