Wichita's theatre community has been buzzing with the hype of August: Osage County by Tracy Letts. The regional premiere of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize winning play is taking place at Wichita Community Theatre January 29th through February 15th. A multi-generational ensemble of some of Wichita's finest actors gave an opportunity for many actors and technicians to stretch their limits and challenge themselves, in a way only a magnificent script can.

Best-selling author Billie Letts has died in Oklahoma at the age of 76. She died on Saturday in Tulsa of acute myeloid leukemia. Arlene Johnson, her publicist, confirmed her death.

TRACY LETTS' AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, winner of five 2008 Tony Awards, as well as the 2008 Pulitzer Prize, and currently starring Tony and Emmy award winner PHYLICIA RASHAD, will play its final performance on SUNDAY, JUNE 28th, 2009. It will have played 648 performances and 18 previews, surpassing The Heidi Chronicles, Master Class, The Real Thing, and Doubt, among many others, to become one of the longest running plays in Broadway history.

In the Baltimore premiere of Killer Joe by Tracy Letts, the Smith family, mired by economic turmoil, is forced to squeeze into a small trailer on the outskirts of Dallas, TX. Chris Smith, the family's outcast son, needs a quick solution to his mounting debt and ruthless collectors. Chris stumbles upon Killer Joe Cooper, a detective who moonlights as a can't-miss hit-man, and he cooks up a sinister scheme targeting his mother's large life insurance policy.
Tracy Letts, who was recently awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, Drama Desk Award and Tony Award for Best Play for his play, August: Osage County, is the son to Best-Selling author Billie Letts and actor Dennis Letts.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company announced its Pulitzer and Tony Award®-winning American play August: Osage County by ensemble member Tracy Letts, directed by ensemble member Anna D. Shapiro, will play an eight-week engagement at London's National Theatre (Lyttelton) beginning in November 2008.
