Sierra Repertory Theatre opens its first Fallon House show of the year with Noises Off, praised as the "funniest comedy ever written" by the New York Post and often acclaimed as the comedy by which all other comedies are compared. The play opens April 14 in Columbia State Historic Park with a month-long run.

The Old Opera House Theatre Company held the 16th Annual New Voice Play Festival this past weekend at the Old Opera House in Charles Town. Four new plays were featured in this event and the audience served as the final judge. The Old Opera House patrons selected the play Grim Tidings by Dennis Jones from Powhatan, VA as their favorite of the festival. All four plays received positive reviews from the Old Opera House patrons and the participants in this year's festival.

Last Friday, at a restaurant in downtown Dallas, the cast of Broadway's newest hit musical, MOONSHINE: THAT HEE HAW MUSICAL, celebrated their crowd-pleasing opening night amidst cocktails and cheers. Except it wasn't the celebration of their Broadway opening night they were celebrating: it was a party celebrating the press opening of Dallas Theatre Center's exciting new local production, currently being produced in hopes of soon landing on the Great White Way. Still, with the amount of talent on stage, and the brilliant writing, staging, costumes, set design, etc., this production felt a lot more 'Big Apple' than 'Big D.'

Sierra Rep Receives Elaine Symons Baker Award

Sierra Repertory Theatre staff got a surprise from the Sonora Area Foundation today, when the theater was presented with a $10,000 gift as the recipient of this year's Elaine Symons Baker Community Impact Award. The gift is named for a Tuolumne County woman who, with her brother Irving Symons, was one of the foundation's first major benefactors. It is presented each year to an area nonprofit.
