Polarity Ensemble Theatre, in association with Rasaka Theatre Company, presents the world premiere of the late playwright Keith Anwar's drama, Kabulitis, September 20 - October 30, 2011. Winner of the Polarity Ensemble's 2010 Dionysos Cup Festival of New Plays, Kabulitis gives an intimate look into the life of an American woman married to an Afghan and living in Kabul, Afghanistan. The story was inspired by the lives and stories of the playwright's parents and family, giving an insider's perspective into life within the country in which the U.S. has had a military presence for the past decade.

Rachael Yamagata has reunited with Happenstance producer, John Alagia (Dave Matthews Band, Jason Mraz, Liz Phair) and is putting the finishing touches on her new studio album, the follow up to her heralded 2 CD Set Elephants...Teeth Sinking Into Heart. Yamagata will self release the album this Fall.

It was a typical Las Vegas summer of entertainment. There were the big arena shows - Lady Gaga, Dylan and Mellencamp among them, the resident shows like Jersey Boys and Phantom (both wonderful), Cirque shows and the stars who have found homes on Las Vegas stages and play here regularly. Among those are Donny and Marie, David Copperfield, Tom Jones….the list is a long one, a good one. Las Vegas is - if you're not looking for a lot of traditional theater or opera (yes, we do have ballet!) - a great place to find entertainment.

The noise coming from Damrosch Park is the roar of dancing feet as Midsummer Night Swing draws to a thunderous close with Week Three. Afrobeat star Femi Kuti & The Positive Force takes over on July 12th, with the associate choreographer from FELA! sweating out the relentless beats and a pre-show DJ set by Jump n' Funk's Rich Medina with Sahr from the cast of FELA! On July 14th songstress Catherine Russell and Cat & The Hounds Swing Band takes over, with a bluesy, jazz-tinged night of swing.
