It was announced today that Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director of Manhattan Theatre Club, will be honored with the Lucille Lortel Award for Lifetime Achievement. The award recognizes Meadow's extraordinary accomplishments and dedication to producing and directing new work Off-Broadway for over three decades. The Lucille Lortel Award ceremony will be held Sunday, May 1 at the Jack. H Skirball Center for the Performing Arts (566 Laguardia Place).

Burning Coal Theatre Company, a small professional theatre based in Raleigh, North Carolina announces its upcoming production of the American premiere of The Shape of the Table by playwright David Edgar, directed by Jerome Davis. The production will run April 7 - 24, 2011 at the Murphey School, 224 Polk Street, Raleigh. Performances are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Lynn Nottage won the Pulitzer Prize for Ruined, a powerful play about the harrowing lives of women in Africa - and now that show's on stage at Berkeley Repertory Theatre. To facilitate further conversation about this thought-provoking script and the important issues it raises, Berkeley Rep is hosting a free event in the Roda Theatre at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 4. Page to Stage will feature four experts in social justice from nonprofit organizations working to promote women's rights in Africa.

Royal Shakespeare Company Set to Premiere THE HEART OF ROBINHOOD, 11/17; New Shows Announced!

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced their plans to stage the premiere of The Heart of Robin Hood. The show will mark the company's first large-scale show for a family audience in their newly renovated Royal Shakespeare Theatre at Stratford-upon-Avon. Performances begin November 17, with an opening night scheduled for December 1, 2011. The show will run until January 7, 2012.
