The 5th Avenue Theatre's next installment of our popular Spotlight Night series focuses on our upcoming production of A Christmas Story: The Musical!. Spotlight Night features the show's hot young composer/lyricist duo, an introduction to the show's cast and a behind-the-scenes look at Jean Shepherd, the legendary radio raconteur whose stories inspired the film on which the musical is based.

The director, choreographer and design team for Oklahoma!, the classic Richard Rodgers & Oscar Hammerstein musical, have been announced. Playing at The 5th Avenue from July 8 through August 6, 2011, the musical will be directed by The 5th's Producing Director Bill Berry (On The Town, West Side Story, Cabaret), with scenic design by Walt Spangler, costumes by Alejo Vietta, lights by Tom Sturge, and sound by Zach Williamson.

The 5th Avenue Theatre celebrated its 30th Anniversary with A Night At The 5th, the Theatre's annual Fundraising Gala, on Saturday June 19. During a glamorous evening of food, fun and entertainment, the generous patrons of The 5th gave more than twice as much money as last year's event, and celebrated the end of a acclaimed season whose highlights included four Tonys for the co-production with La Jolla Playhouse of last season's Memphis, the world-premiere of Catch Me if You Can and critically-acclaimed productions of Bernstein's On The Town and Candide.

On Saturday June 19 The Theatre offers up entertainment, catered delicacies and both a Silent and Live Auction, and celebrates the end of a critically-acclaimed season as well as honoring the visionaries who saved The 5th from demolition.

The 5th Avenue Theatre has announced the cast for our upcoming production of Leonard Bernstein's Candide, directed by the 5th's Executive Producer and Artistic Director David Armstrong. Starring in the title role is New York actor Stanley Bahorek, who's performed in the national tour of Big River and on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
