George Takei Emcees National Corporate Theatre Fund Gala Honoring Vanessa Williams Tonight

Tonight, April 29th, at New York City's Pierre Hotel, the National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF) will honor Vanessa Williams, American Express and five resident theatres celebrating their 50th anniversary - Actors Theatre of Louisville, Guthrie Theater, Hartford Stage, Seattle Repertory Theatre and Trinity Repertory Company - at NCTF's annual Chairman's Awards Gala. Actor George Takei, star of the Broadway-bound musical Allegiance, emcees the event.

John Krasinski to Receive Trinity Rep's 2013 Pell Award

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that screen and television actor John Krasinski will be honored with the 2013 Pell Award for Distinguished Achievement in the Arts. Krasinski is a Massachusetts native, known for his work on NBC's hit comedy The Office, and the recent film Promised Land with Matt Damon. Krasinski will be honored alongside recently announced Honorees Kate Burton (Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts), Tony Estrella (Rhode Island Pell Award for Excellence in the Arts), Joseph A. Chazan, M.D. (Pell Award for Outstanding Leadership in the Arts), and Martha Douglas-Osmundson (Charles Sullivan Award for Distinguished Service in the Arts.) The 17th annual Pell Awards will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Trinity Rep with a reception to follow next door at the Providence Public Library.

The Rhode Island Performance Exchange Launches

The Rhode Island performance community-at-large has announced the formation of The Rhode Island Performance Exchange (RIPE). The community-based organization aims to create greater awareness about all activity in the Rhode Island performance community, while connecting people working in the sector to each other in hopes of encouraging new collaborations and resource-sharing, all with the ultimate goal of building better performance through a stronger community, and a stronger community through better performance.

Trinity Repertory Company announced today that three local Rhode Island residents will be receiving Pell Awards this year in addition to Kate Burton, who had previously been announced as the recipient of the 2013 Pell Award for Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. The 17th annual Pell Awards will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at Trinity Rep with a reception to follow next door at the Providence Public Library.

Trinity Rep Holds 'Zombie Prevention' Blood Drive

Trinity Repertory Company has announced that in tandem with their post-apocalyptic zombie-dramedy Social Creatures, they are partnering with the RI Blood Center for a "Zombie Prevention" Blood Drive on Friday, March 15th from 2:30pm-5:30pm at Trinity Repertory Company, 201 Washington St in Providence in order to raise awareness and urge donations. All pre-registered donors will get a free ticket to a performance of Social Creatures, playing March 14 through April 21 at Trinity Rep. Trinity Rep Receives NEA Grant

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced November 28, 2012 that Trinity Repertory Company is one of 832 non-profit organizations nationwide to receive an NEA Art Works grant. Trinity Rep was awarded a $25,000 grant to support the world premiere of award-winning playwright Jackie Sibblies Drury's Social Creatures in March/April 2013 as part of their 2012-2013 mainstage season.

Trinity Rep Raises Over $44,000 for RI Community Food Bank During 2012 Holiday Season

Trinity Rep has announced that during the months of November and December they collected $44,400 in cash donations to the Rhode Island Community Food Bank. Continuing their longtime practice of acting as a holiday drop-off location for food donations, the theater also concluded each performance of their holiday classic A Christmas Carol with a collection for the Food Bank. The donation was made on behalf of the thousands of Trinity Rep patrons attending the show, the theater's staff and ushers. The partnership between the two institutions has, even through challenging economic times, brought the total dollar amount raised for the Food Bank throughout the seven year partnership to nearly $260,000. Additionally, Trinity Rep is pleased to announce that hey donated 150 tickets to a performance of A Christmas Carol to Food Bank clients and their families, through the Open Access Theater program, generously funded by Citizens Bank.

Dallas Theater Center Presents KING LEAR, Now thru 2/18

Dallas Theater Center will conclude its four-year Shakespeare cycle with one of the playwright's greatest tragedies King Lear, a co-production with Trinity Repertory Company and directed by DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty. King Lear opens for previews tonight, January 18 and runs through Sunday, February 18.
