Award-winning playwright Branden Jacobs-Jenkins' biting new comedic drama, APPROPRIATE, begins previews Wednesday, September 23, 2015, at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum. Opening is set for Sunday, October 4 at 7 p.m. and performances continue through November 1.

The New York Dance and Performance Awards (The Bessies), New York City's premier dance awards honoring outstanding creative work in the field, today announced the nominees for the 2014-15 season at its annual press conference. The 37 nominees were selected by the Bessies Selection Committee, an independent committee of 39 dance industry professionals. Produced in partnership with Dance/NYC, Bessie Award categories include Outstanding Production, Outstanding Revival, Outstanding Performer, Outstanding Music Composition or Sound Design, and Outstanding Visual Design. The Public Theater announced a one-week extension for the acclaimed STRAIGHT WHITE MEN, a new play written and directed by OBIE winner Young Jean Lee. A co-production with Young Jean Lee's Theater Company, STRAIGHT WHITE MEN began previews on Friday, November 7 and was originally scheduled to close on Sunday, December 7. It will now run an additional week through Sunday, December 14.

Center Theatre Group (CTG) is now accepting submissions for the 2015 Richard E. Sherwood Award. The Sherwood Award is an annual $10,000 fund to support Los Angeles theatre artists. The award is presented each year at the Ovation Awards ceremony produced by LA Stage Alliance.

Following a worldwide search, Rolex today announced the 25 finalists being considered for a year of creative exchange in architecture, dance, film, literature, music, theatre and visual arts, as part of the Rolex Mentor and Protege Arts Initiative. The Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle has announced its 2013 nominations and special awards for excellence in Los Angeles, Orange County and Ventura County theatre. The 45th Annual Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, March 17, 2014 at The Colony Theatre, located at 555 N. Third Street in Burbank.
