The Public Theater has just announced the return of PUBLIC SINGS! on March 5, 2012, an unforgettable evening that celebrates the rich history of musicals produced by The Public Theater, including HAIR, A Chorus Line, and Caroline, or Change, as well as new musicals in development like February House premiering at The Public this May. This intimate evening at Joe's Pub will welcome to the stage many popular Public Theater and Joe's Pub artists, including Laura Benanti, David Byrne, Raul Esparza, Jesse L. A seven-years-and-counting fixture at New York's famed Café Carlyle (a spot he inherited from one of his mentors, the late Bobby Short), Steve Tyrell--a long-time behind-the-scenes music veteran-turned chart-topping jazz superstar--has returned to Orange County, California for a series of highly-entertaining shows at the Samueli Theatre as part of Segerstrom Center for the Arts' wonderful Cabaret Series through Sunday, January 8. Producers Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and INFINITY Stages announced today that Tony Award nominee KERRY BUTLER (Xanadu) has joined the cast of the 2012 Broadway revival of Gore Vidal's THE BEST MAN in the role of Mabel Cantwell, a role that Edie Adams played in the film adaptation and later by Christine Ebersole in the 2000 Broadway revival. The addition of Butler marks the completion of principal casting for this star-studded theatrical event.

Bay Area Cabaret, the eight-year-old non-profit presenting top Broadway, jazz, and pop performers, has announced its Spring 2011 lineup for the 2011-2012 season, Venetian Evenings. Opening the season January 15, 2012 is two-time Tony award winner Christine Ebersole, star of Broadway's Grey Gardens and 42nd Street and Hollywood films Amadeus and Tootsie, followed on Sunday, February 26 by two performances, the first by acclaimed jazz guitarist John Pizzarelli and his quartet and a second performance with his wife, Broadway star Jessica Molaskey. Finishing the season on Saturday, May 12 is Tony winner Laura Benanti, star of Broadway's Gypsy.

After selling out the original 5pm Sunday, December 11 performance a month in advance, Bay Area Cabaret has added a second Stacey Kent concert, 7:30pm Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the Venetian Room of the Fairmont San Francisco (950 Mason Street). Grammy Award nominee and internationally-renowned jazz vocalist Stacey Kent makes her first Bay Area appearance in more than six years.
