Now that the sun is shining in Manhattan again, the idea of going for a run doesn't seem quite as daunting as it did when it involved trudging through 18 inches of snow or wearing a million layers. So, in honor of the newly agreeable weather, I've decided to share with you my Broadway showtunes workout mix. I listen to this when I'm jogging around Manhattan -- I particularly love the paths along the Hudson River. (Plenty of opportunities for Broadway sightings here, BTW; I've seen Cheyenne Jackson several times!)

Tom Viertel, Chairman of the Board of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, has announced that Stephen Sondheim will present Harold Prince with the organization's Monte Cristo Award at a gala benefit on Monday, April 5, 2010 at Bridgewaters. The Award, given annually in recognition of a distinguished career exemplifying Eugene O'Neill's pioneering spirit and standard of excellence, has previously been presented to Kevin Spacey, Neil Simon, Jason Robards, Jr., Edward Albee, August Wilson, Zoe Caldwell, Brian Dennehy, Karl Malden, Arthur and Barbara Gelb, and Wendy Wasserstein.

'My spies at 30 Rock tell me about a special Mother's Day episode that just wrapped which features a bevy of Broadway belters. Returning guests include Elaine Stritch as Alec Baldwin's mom, Patti LuPone as Judah Friedlander's mom, Jan Hooks as Jane Krakowski's mom, and Anita Gillette as Tina Fey's mom. With Broadway regulars Cheyenne Jackson and Krakowski, the final scene will be something like Mother's Day - The Musical.'

Theatrical composer and lyricist Scott Alan will be joined by some of today's brightest men on the New York theatre scene for a special concert at Birdland on April 12, 2010. The line-up includes The Broadway Boys, Darius de Haas (Children of Eden), Bobby Steggert (Ragtime, Yank), Josh Lamon (Hair), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Nicholas Rodriguez (One Life To Live), Grasan Kingsberry (Finian's Rainbow), Matt Doyle (Bye Bye Birdie), Michael Seelbach (Wicked), Jay A. Johnson (Hair), and recording artist RJ Helton and Brandon Webman. The concert begins at 7pm.

As previously reported, Michael Feinstein and Dame Edna have decided to collaborate on their upcoming show efforts and will jointly star in All About Me. Due to an illness, Daniel Reichard will replace Hunter Bell as Ted Casablanca and Mel in the one-night-only benefit performance of VALLEY OF THE DOLLS tonight, March 15, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. This stage adaptation of the 1967 film will take place at the Gerald W. Lynch Theatre at John Jay College (899 Tenth Ave.)

Composer and Lyricist Scott Alan will return to London's West End on Saturday, March 13th, 2010, as he takes to the stage of the Prince of Wales Theatre's Delfont Room. This intimate concert will feature Scott Alan at the piano playing some of his most beloved songs from his CD's 'Dreaming Wide Awake,' and 'Keys,' as well as songs from his upcoming CD, 'What I Wanna Be When I Grow Up,' which he is currently in the studio recording with some of today's brightest Broadway and West End performers.

Sean Hayes, set to make his Broadway debut with Kristin Chenoweth in the revival of PROMISES, PROMISES, talked to 'The Advocate' in a recent interview about his sexual orientation. Hayes, who played the flamboyant Jack McFarland on the popular show 'Will and Grace,' has been somewhat cautious about the topic in the past.

Legendary singer-dancer-actress Mitzi Gaynor, star of such films as South Pacific, Les Girls, Anything Goes, and a longtime headliner in Las Vegas and the nightclub circuit, making her first NY night club appearance in years in May at Feinstein's at Loews Regency, will be honored with the Bob Harrington Lifetime Achievement Award. Elaine Stritch, the uniquely sensational actress and singer and star of stage, film, and TV, will be recognized in the category of Extraordinary Cabaret Artist, noting her recent conquests of the cabaret stage.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals this morning that stage star and recent 30 Rock alum Cheyenne Jackson will star alongside James Patrick Stuart in ABC's comedy pilot It Takes a Village. The show revolves around exes Karen (played by Leah Remini) and Howard and their new significant others who join forces to raise their 15-year-old boy. Stuart (of Beverly Hills 90210 fame) will play Karen's new husband. Jackson (Xanadu, Finian's Rainbow, 30 Rock), will play Howard's new and first boyfriend.
