Nominees for the 2012 LA STAGE Alliance Ovation Awards were announced Tuesday evening at the Renberg Theatre inside the Gay and Lesbian Center in Los Angeles. The 2012 Ovation Awards ceremony will take place on Monday, November 12, at the historic Los Angeles Theatre, 615 South Broadway, in downtown Los Angeles at 7:30 pm. My Baby is by no means a musical revue, but an original book musical by Cheri Steinkellner, incorporating fine old standards from The Great American Songbook written in the early 1900s when the action of the play takes place on both the Upper and Lower East Sides of New York. Rubicon Theatre Company today announced a new campaign for the Jewel Club, the theatre's exclusive VIP Membership Program. All new members that join by March 14, 2012 will be invited to a special, private preview of Rubicon's upcoming production of Hello! My Baby. This chic and intimate event will bring together director Brian McDonald and creator/writer Cheri Steinkellner, known for her Emmy-Award and Golden Globe-Award winning work on the classic TV show Cheers and her Tony-Award nominated book for the Broadway hit Sister Act.

The Sundance Institute Theatre Program has begun the 2012 Playwrights Retreat at Ucross Foundation. The 13th annual writing colony at the 20,000-acre working cattle ranch outside of Sheridan, Wyo. takes place through February 24 and provides a supportive environment for artists to create new work and receive guidance and reactions to it at an early stage.
