Celebrating its 35th anniversary season, Carolyn Dorfman Dance, invites audiences to be part of the movement as the company returns to the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum for an exciting evening of repertory on November 16. The bold and dramatic company will perform Dorfman's charming Dance/Stories, lively Sextet and lead dancer Ae-Soon Kim's sinuous Unfolding.

Carolyn Dorfman Dance, whose bold and dramatic works connect life and movement debuts its 35th performance season with Under the Umbrella of Movement at Jersey City Theater Center on October 22 at 4 p.m. in collaboration with classic pantomime artist Grigory Gurevich.

Fall highlights include being presented by Jersey City Theater Company in excerpts of KEYSTONE, WAVES and The Klezmer Sketch with special guest artist Grigory Gurevich, along with performances of Dance/Stories, Sextet and Unfolding at the Bickford Theatre in the Morris Museum.

Jersey City Theater Center (JCTC) presents Under the Umbrella of Movement at White Eagle Hall on October 22, which kicks off the 35th performance season of one of the leading and longest established dance companies in New Jersey.

Historic Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University served as a fitting backdrop for an innovative program the first annual Liberty Hall Dance Festival, which explored history through dance.

The newly created Liberty Hall Dance Festival will be presented on Saturday, September 16th in Union, NJ. The festival was created by Nicole Bugg of Bugg Ballet in partnership with the Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University.

The Bickford Theatre has announced their 2017-18 season which includes a blend of jazz, bluegrass, classical, pop and a trio of live theater offerings. Subscription packages for the Main Stage productions are available and seats for most of this season's shows are reserved. Food trucks which proved extremely popular over the summer will be offered for the concerts in September and October so make plans to tailgate while the weather is still nice.

Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University has joined forces with Buggé Ballet for a one-of-a-kind event – the Liberty Hall Dance Festival. For the first time ever, guests will spend an afternoon walking through the scenic museum grounds, enjoying site-specific professional dance performances inspired by moments in history. Liberty Hall Dance Festival will be held on Saturday, September 16 from 1 – 4 p.m.

Arts Education at NJPAC announces the new 2017 Fall Saturday Program, offering students a diverse selection of classes in dance, music, theater and visual arts on Saturdays. 

Known for its “powerfully engaging” (New York Arts) choreography, Ariel Rivka Dance reflects on 10 seasons of provocative modern dance with a pair of career-spanning programs to be performed at New York Live Arts from September 6-9, 2017.

Jersey (New) Moves!, a collaboration of the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and Dance New Jersey, has lent a strong supporting arm to emerging choreographers since 2015 by awarding mentorships that conclude with a showcase of new works at NJPAC.

 Carolyn Dorfman Dance, whose bold and dramatic works connect life and movement, are broadening student's dance knowledge and appreciation through classroom, after school programing, and curriculum building throughout communities across the nation. In 2016, the organization launched the D.E.P.T.H. Initiative, Dance (that) Empowers People to (be more) Human, with a 36-month fundraising goal of $100,000 for dance education expansion. To date, the initiative has raised over $23,000 in private funding, earmarked for five new dance programs—McKinley School in New Brunswick, PS 27 Elementary and Passaic County Technical Institute (PCTI) in Paterson, New Jersey High School Dance Festival in Union City, and a special student assembly sponsored by LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, Long Island City, New York.

Raucous jazz blares, bringing bejeweled and sequined dancing flapper girls to life. An evening of indulgence has begun. The entry notes of Prince's 'Erotic City' ring in your ears, an echo from another time. Suddenly you notice the writing on the wall. The crash of overindulgence is imminent.
