Rehearsals begin today and full casting is confirmed for the Broadway transfer of the Kennedy Center's acclaimed production of James Goldman and Stephen Sondheim's FOLLIES, directed by Eric Schaeffer, with choreography by Warren Carlyle and music direction by James Moore. FOLLIES will begin previews on Sunday, August 7, 2011 and open on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Marquis Theatre. Tickets are now on sale.

Summer afternoons just got a whole lot cooler. The Fantasticks will offer free backstage tours following all weekend matinee performances now through Labor Day.

Bradley Dean, who recently appeared as Carl-Magnus opposite Bernadette Peters in the Broadway revival of A Little Night Music, will begin performances as El Gallo, the charming and manipulative narrator in The Fantasticks, on Monday, July 25, 2011. Edward Watts, who currently plays the role, will give his final performance on July 24.

Philly's Broadway dreams will come true for the third consecutive summer when the Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partners with the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present their summer performing arts intensive August 1 through Sunday August 7. Acclaimed theatrical producer and director Richard Jay-Alexander and a roster of Broadway veterans will work with aspiring young performers from the Philadelphia area throughout the week in preparation for 'True Colors', a one of a kind Broadway concert open to the public. The one night only concert event will take place at the Merriam Theatre on Saturday August 6 at 7:30pm. The Freddie G. Teacher Experience (named for Music Theatre International's CEO and Chairman Freddie Gershon who, with his wife Myrna, underwrote the awards and weekend) was a weekend devoted exclusively to professional development for theatrical educators held on July 15th- 17th 2011 in New York City.

If I were delusional enough to think my scribblings could turn an unknown into a star overnight, then I'd be writing these words fully confident that by tomorrow morning every Broadway producer in town would want to sign a young musical comedy actress named Oakley Boycott.  Yes, Oakley Boycott is her actual name and as a performer she's as unique as her moniker.  I first saw her two years ago at one of Town Hall's Broadway's Rising Stars concerts, where she floored the place as a rhythmically-challenged singer awkwardly pounding her way through John Kroner's 'Where's The Beat.'  Since then it seems her New York appearances have been limited to Scott Siegel's Town Hall concerts and doing concert musicals for Mel Miller's Musicals Tonight!

One of Broadway's brightest stars, Bernadette Peters, will be the recipient of the Distinguished Dedication and Service to the American Musical Theater Award, presented by Westport Country Playhouse at the theater's '80th Birthday' gala, 'Playing Our Songs: Celebrating 80 Years of Musical Theater,' on the evening of Monday, September 19.
