According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jim Murray, agent to the likes of Tony Bennett, Phyllis Diller, Jerry Lewis and Liza Minnelli, passed away on December 16, 2012. He was 85.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) welcomes distinguished UC alumnus Randy Edelman (CCM '69, HonDoc '04) back to Corbett Auditorium for one unforgettable evening beginning at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 27. A prominent singer, songwriter, arranger and film scorer, Edelman will bring his film scores to life during this special event concert featuring CCM's acclaimed Philharmonia Orchestra andJazz Ensemble.

According to Classic Rock Magazine, Monty Python's Terry Jones is collaborating with composer and lyricist Jim Steinman on a musical adaptation of Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker Suite, called Nutcracked. Jones said he is hoping for a Christmas 2013 opening in New York.

At the famed Alwyn Court Jamie deRoy & it's residents performed in the court yard of this New York City designated Landmark's annual Holiday Party. The neo-French Renaissance apartment building was built in 1907 and it's list of celebrity tenants is long. Among them were Frederick Steinway, Oscar Levant, Fred Allen and Natasha Richardson. Pop legend Barry Manilow will be back on Broadway in January, but between now and then he will present a series of six benefit concerts at Palm Desert's McCallum Theatre called "A Gift Of Love" with all proceeds benefiting 27 local (Coachella Valley) charities. He recently celebrated his 50th chart-topping hit on The Billboard Charts with "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" from his new holiday CD, The Classic Christmas Album. I had the wonderful opportunity to sit down with the entertainment icon backstage at The McCallum and talk "all things Manilow". Here are a few excerpts from that interview.
