Clarence Brown Theatre patrons donated $16,306 to the Highlander Center during the run of the theatre's world premiere production of Anthony Clarvoe's a?oePeople Where They Area?? in the Carousel Theatre October 2-20, 2019, directed by Calvin MacLean and Dee Dee Batteast.

The Playwrights Foundation hosts Cocktails with a Playwright, a June 8 benefit from 5 - 7PM a an intimate and interactive event featuring award winning playwrights at the San Francisco Center for the Book. Celebrating new plays and engaging celebrated playwrights, the event will honor alumni playwrights Marcus Gardley, 2019 Obie Award Winner, Kristiana Rae Colon, Lauren Yee, and the inspirational leadership of outgoing Artistic Director Amy Mueller, who will be passing the torch at the end of the season after nineteen transformational years that have placed Playwrights Foundation and its playwrights squarely on the national scene.

6NewPlays Closes with Brian Thorstenson's WAKEFIELD

With a mission to produce one new play by each of its six members, 6NewPlays officially closes up shop this fall with WAKEFIELD by Brian Thorstenson. Inspired by Nathaniel Hawthorne's short story of the same name, Wakefield starts at the moment Hawthorne's story ends, when the husband Henry Wakefield returns home after 20 years. Veteran actor Anne Darragh plays Sophia, Henry's wife, alongside Thorstenson as Henry. Erin Mei-Ling Stuart co-directs. Wakefield runs October 5 - 14 at Studio 210 in the Mission. Tickets, $20 - $25, will go on sale in August.
Julianne Jigour's BRIGHT SHINING SEA Comes to Potrero Stage

PlayGround's Festival of New Works features the premiere of the full-length play BRIGHT SHINING SEA by Julianne Jigour opening with a press night on Wednesday May 16, running through June 16, (previews May 14 & 15). BRIGHT SHINING SEA is a co-production with Planet Earth Arts and one of two PlayGround commissioned full-length plays featured this season. In Julianne Jigour's Bright Shining Sea, six characters find their lives intertwined as they face the personal challenges caused by environmental degradation. Bright Shining Sea confronts destruction-personal and environmental-but presents connection and compassion as the means by which hope is possible. Julianne remarks "It asks us to view the Earth holistically, to recognize our interconnectedness, and to do what the current administration won't-to take responsibility for our planet, for each other, and for future generations.

Playwrights Foundation, the West Coast's premiere launchpad for exceptional emerging playwrights has named the artistic teams and daily schedule for the 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival (BAPF). The 40th Anniversary Bay Area Playwrights Festival runs July 13 - 23, 2017 at Custom Made Theatre, 533 Sutter Street in the heart of San Francisco's Theater District. Puzzle Piece Theatre Presents AMBITION FACING WEST

One family spans three generations and three continents in search of lands of opportunity as Anthony Clarvoe's Elliott Norton Award winning (Best New Play) Ambition Facing West makes its Michigan Premiere at Puzzle Piece Theatre. The epic begins September 30th and runs through October 16th with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8pm, and Sunday afternoons at 2pm. All performances take place at the Slipstream Theater, where Puzzle Piece is in residence, located at 460 Hilton in Ferndale, MI 48220. Cutting Ball Theater Names New Artistic Director

San Francisco's cutting-edge Cutting Ball Theater today announced that after a productive year-long sabbatical, which included directing Much Ado About Nothing at the Old Globe Theater as well as Ondine and A Dreamplay at Cutting Ball, co-founder and Artistic Director, Rob Melrose, has decided to officially step down as Artistic Director to continue to focus on his creative work and freelance projects.
