Tony and three-time Emmy Award-winner Amanda Plummer will return to the New York stage after a 15-year absence, along with Academy Award-nominated actor Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest) in the Off-Broadway premiere production of Tennessee Williams' rarely seen The Two-Character Play at New World Stages (340 West 50th Street). Previews begin Monday, June 10. Opening Night is set for June 19 at 8:00 p.m. Equal parts Southern Gothic thriller, black comedy and psychological drama, the work, written during a time of great personal strife, is abstractly based on Williams' close yet complicated relationship with his sister, Rose. The producers of the Tony Award-nominated play ORPHANS announced yesterday that the Broadway production will play its final performance on May 19 after 27 previews and 37 regular performances at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre (236 West 45th Street). The production began performances on March 26 and opened on April 18 starring Alec Baldwin, Ben Foster and Tom Sturridge and is directed by Daniel Sullivan

Lionsgate has tapped Francis Lawrence to direct THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 1 and THE HUNGER GAMES: MOCKINGJAY - PART 2. Based on Suzanne Collins' best-selling series, the films will be written by Danny Strong and star Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

This morning the theatre's Artistic Director, Gene David Kirk, has announced his departure at the end of this year. He is to be replaced by Jermyn Street Theatre's current Associate Director Anthony Biggs.
