The Arsht Center Presents AYIKODANS Haiti's Leading Dance Troupe

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County welcomes back Ayikodans, Haiti's premier dance troupe and one of the country's most prominent artistic exports, May 25 and 26, staged in the intimate Carnival Studio Theater (Ziff Ballet Opera House) as part of the Center's 2011-2012 Dance Up Close Season. After last year's sold-out, earthquake relief fundraising performances, AYIKODANS returns to South Florida to once again thrill audiences with the world premiere of "Anmwey Haiti Manman" (Cry Haiti Mother), a moving piece commissioned by the Arsht Center, and "Danse de L'Araignee" (Dance of the Spider), created by the company's founder and choreographer, Jeanguy Saintus.

The Music Institute of Chicago, the oldest community music school in Illinois and one of the three oldest in the nation, offers the 24th annual Chicago Duo Piano Festival July 13-22 at Music Institute's Evanston East Campus and Nichols Concert Hall, 1490 Chicago Avenue. In addition to offering students private and group coaching and the opportunity to perform in final recitals, the Festival includes three public performances at Nichols Concert Hall featuring acclaimed performers and celebrated duo piano repertoire.

DISNEY'S THE LION KING Leaps To Miami's Arsht Center

In its 15th year, THE LION KING remains ascendant, recently becoming the highest-grossing Broadway show in history. Since its Broadway premiere on November 13, 1997, 19 productions around the globe have been seen by more than 64 million people, grossed over $4.8 billion and, cumulatively, run a staggering 91 years. Produced by Disney Theatrical Productions (under the direction of Thomas Schumacher), THE LION KING is the sixth longest running musical in Broadway history and only the second show to produce five productions running 10 or more years.

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County proudly presents The House Theatre of Chicago's critically-acclaimed production of DEATH and HARRY HOUDINI. This play marks the second House Theatre of Chicago production presented at the Adrienne Arsht Center after last season's The Sparrow. Written and directed by The House's Artistic Director Nathan Allen, DEATH and HARRY HOUDINI delivers a roller coaster ride through the life of the great magician, Harry Houdini, and his life-long battle against death. House Company Member and award-winning magician, Dennis Watkins, has joined the cast and is set to perform Houdini's most renowned and dangerous escape-the dreaded Water Torture Cell-in this dark and tumultuous story guaranteed to keep audiences on the edge of their seats. Heuer, Florida Grand Opera's General Director and CEO steps onto the stage prior to the opening night performance of Romeo and Juliette at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts this Saturday, April 21 2012, at 7:00 pm, he will, in effect, be saying farewell to many loyal fans and supporters who are perhaps unaware of his impending retirement on May 31, 2012.
