The China Doll will be followed by an AMERICAN PSYCHO. Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, AMERICAN PSYCHO the musical will start previews Thursday, March 24th, 2016 at The Gerald Schoenfeld Theater at 236 West 45thStreet. The production will star BENJAMIN WALKER (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Patrick Bateman.

The producers of the new musical AMERICAN PSYCHO just announced the show will make its Broadway premiere this season with previews set to start Friday, February 19th, 2016and an official opening night on Monday, March 21st, 2016 at a Shubert Theatre to be announced. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, January 11th, 2016. The production will star BENJAMIN WALKER (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson) as Patrick Bateman.

American Psycho, following its cancelled U.S. premiere at Second Stage Theatre, will receive a developmental lab reading in January 2015 in New York City, according to a new Equity casting notice.

Now according to the New York Times, steps are being made to bring the show straight to Broadway in Fall 2015. Act 4 founder, David Johnson told NYT that the arrangements with Second Stage "just weren't in the best interests of the production and its continuing life." He also acknowledged that Broadway producers Jeffrey Richards and Jerry Frankel were amongst "several theater professionals" who advised that the new musical should move straight to Broadway. Both of which are currently in talks to be lead producers for the Broadway run. Richards told NYT: "I just felt the proposal by Second Stage was something that did not serve the best interests of the production. I heard from other producers that they also spoke with Act 4. We were all asked for advice, and we gave it. I saw 'American Psycho' in London, and I thought it was terrific."

From 9 July - 9 August 2013, the Almeida Festival returns with a packed programme of fresh collaborations, award-winning artists and brand new shows. Headlong will return to the Almeida Theatre following the critically acclaimed 2008 co-production of The Last Days of Judas Iscariot. The collaboration will continue in autumn 2013 with a new co-production - the World Premiere of American Psycho, with book by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. American Psycho will be directed by Rupert Goold and produced in association with David Johnson and Jesse Singer at Act 4 Entertainment.

In an Almeida and Headlong co-production, Lyndsey Turner will direct the world premiere of Lucy Kirkwood's Chimerica from 17 May - 29 June 2013, with press night on 23 May. Designs are by Es Devlin with lighting by Tim Lutkin and sound by Carolyn Downing. Casting for Chimerica will be announced shortly.

According to UK theater company Headlong's 2012-2013 season announcement, the group will be producing playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Grammy and Tony-winning songwriter Duncan Sheik's musical American Psycho, based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis. Directed by Rupert Goold, the show will be a co-production with Act 4 Entertainment and The Collective. No word yet on where the production will be produced.
