Palisades Virtuosi to Present 'Finding Our Voice' Concert

The Palisades Virtuosi flute, clarinet and piano trio presents Finding Our Voice – A Century of American Music, the first subscription concert of their 2015-2016 season on Friday, October 2 at 8:00 PM at the Fair Lawn Community Center, 10-10 20th Street in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The evening will also include a pre-concert talk at 7:15 and reception following the performance.

New York City Ballet will open its 2015-16 Season at Lincoln Center tonight, September 22 with eight performances of Peter Martins' production of Tschaikovsky's Swan Lake, through Tuesday, September 29, to launch the Company's 2015 Fall Season, which will continue for four weeks through Sunday, October 18.

Since taking over the reins of The Louisville Orchestra in 2014, Music Director Teddy Abrams has taken the musicians out of Whitney Hall to venues all around the city. If the challenge for the venerable orchestra in recent, troubled years, has been to bring new patrons downtown to Main Street, Mr. Abrams' approach seems to have been: if the audience won't coe ton the orchestra, then take the orchestra to the audience.

Orange County, Calif.—Sept. 4, 2015—Pacific Symphony and Music Director Carl St.Clair open the 2015-16 Hal and Jeanette Segerstrom Family Foundation Classical Series with Beethoven's monumental hymn to human freedom and brotherhood, his Symphony No. 9, “Choral,” featuring the soul-stirring “Ode to Joy.” This magnificent union between symphony orchestra and voices features Pacific Chorale and four world-class opera vocalists, soprano Mary Wilson, mezzo-soprano Milena Kiti?, tenor John Bellemer and bass-baritone Kevin Deas, who sing the dramatic and dynamic solo passages in the fourth movement. The program opens the orchestra's 37th season with a rare opportunity to hear “The Promise of Living” from Aaron Copland's opera, “The Tender Land,” a choral piece with a similar message of thanksgiving and neighborly love. ACME to Open 2015-16 Season at Five Boroughs Music Festival, 9/11

ACME, the American Contemporary Music Ensemble opens its 2015-2016 season with a concert presented by Five Boroughs Music Festival at 7pm on Friday, September 11, 2015 at National Opera Center's Scorca Recital Hall. The program features music by ACME members Timo Andres (solo piano piece TBA), Caleb Burhans (Jahrzeit for string quartet), and Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw (Gustave Le Grey), as well as Meredith Monk's rarely performed string quartet Stringsongs and Charles Ives' Piano Trio, Op. 86. The group will also present the world premiere of 5×5, a suite of five movements commissioned by Five Boroughs Music Festival, featuring musical contributions by each of the five composer-performers on the program - Shaw, Andres, and Burhans plus violinist Ben Russell and cellist/ACME artistic director Clarice Jensen. ACME players for this concert are Caroline Shaw and Ben Russell, violins; Caleb Burhans and Caitlin Lynch, violas; Clarice Jensen, cello; and Timo Andres, piano.
