This Spring Washington Ensemble Theatre (WET) will give Henrik Ibsen's beloved play A Doll's House a fresh new makeover in Cherdonna's Doll's House, a wild and dynamic collaboration with and featuring Cherdonna Shinatra (aka Jody Kuehner), the 2015 Stranger Genius Award winner for Performance. Playing April 28 - May 15, 2017 in the Studio Theater at 12th Avenue Arts, Cherdonna's Doll's House follows the story of Nora, a married woman and mother who struggles to discover her true self or lack thereof. Cherdonna, who is part bio-drag queen, part contemporary dancer, and part performance artist, will celebrate, dissect, and illuminate this text through her own unique feminist lens, scouring Ibsen, Nora, Torvald, and the whole gang for contemporary meaning. Ali Mohamed el-Gasseir, former Co-Artistic Director of WET and co-adapter of the play with Kuehner, directs.

The Skirball Cultural Center continues its twentieth anniversary season of Sunset Concerts with the L.A. debut of blues veterans Music Maker Blues Revue on Thursday, August 18.

He is an internationally recognized clinician, surgeon and educator in otolaryngology. He still performs ear implant surgeries to alleviate sensorineural hearing loss at The Glasscock Hearing Implant Center in Houston. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville and acts as a consultant to three medical device companies. He has authored more than 250 peer-reviewed publications and a reference book, Surgery of the Ear, considered by his peers to be the definitive textbook on the subject. Glasscock, who himself suffers from hearing loss, has been involved in the development of two major middle ear implants that have been approved by the FDA. He also is an actor who has appeared in commercials and independent films, and a licensed airplane and helicopter pilot.

As part of its Jazz & Popular Song series, directed by five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer and pianist Michael Feinstein, Jazz at Lincoln Center will present Cy Coleman: Bringing Jazz to Broadway on Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday May 16 at 7:30pm. Feinstein, who featured Cy Coleman as a vocalist and jazz pianist in his nightclub the month before the famed composer died, leads a cast featuring Michele Lee (Coleman's Seesaw, Knots Landing), Tamara Tunie (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit), Broadway veteran Chuck Cooper, singer-songwriter Johnny Rodgers and, on May 16 only, James Naughton (The Devil Wears Prada) that illustrates Coleman's profound jazz influence on contemporary Broadway.

Teens ?N' Theater will present its 14th Annual Young Playwrights Festival at 7 pm on May 7th and at 4:30 pm on May 9th and 10th in the Hitchcock Studio Theater at The Rose, 2001 Farnam Street. This year's Young Playwrights Festival will feature five original plays written by teen playwrights, performedby an ensemble cast of 30 actors, and directed by Rose educators Kevin Ehrhart and Mari Martinez.
