The Breath Project Announces Initiative To Support Classroom Conversations About Slavery Reparations And Develop New Theatrical Work


The Breath Project (TBP), launched by co-Founders Gamal Abdel Chasten and Marieke Gaboury in the summer of 2020, in the wake of the murder of George Floyd, announces a new three-year initiative to support conversations around the topic of slavery reparations in academic institutions, which will ultimately lead to the development of a live theatrical work.

2021 BREATH PROJECT FESTIVAL Announced


In partnership with theater companies across the country, the free festival will feature world premiere works created by multidisciplinary theater artists of color that are all 8 minutes and 46 seconds in length, plus sneak-peeks of the New Play Commission Project Plays.

The Breath Project, in partnership with theater companies across the country, was formed to select, curate and archive work from multidisciplinary theater artists of color who are responding to our current moment in history, and to build relationships between artists of color and producers of live theater in their region. Closing out the 2012-2013 season at PlayMakers Repertory Company is the world premeire of Spring Training, a commissioned work by UNIVERSES, as a part of their prc2 line-up.
