TWO MUSES THEATRE TO HOST OPEN AUDITIONS FOR SYLVIA AND A LITTLE WORK

This is the world premiere of A Little Work by Anita Diamant (author of The Red Tent)

West Bloomfield, Mich.-based Two Muses Theatre, a nonprofit, professional theatre dedicated to providing opportunities for female artisans and women in theatre, today announced open auditions for two upcoming productions: Sylvia by A.R. Gurney and A little Work by Anita Diamant and Stephen McCauley. The auditions will be held on Monday, April 2, 2012 from 5:00 p.m.-9:30 p.m. at the Barnes & Noble Theatre Space at 6800 Orchard Lake Rd. in West Bloomfield, Mich. Two Muses Theatre Co-Founder Diane Hill, who will be directing both shows, made the announcement.

Sylvia, a modern romantic comedy about a marriage and a dog, will be performed on Friday and Saturday evenings from June 7-July 1, as well as Sunday matinees. Rehearsals leading up to the show will take place on nights and weekends throughout the month of May. A Little Work, a comedy that Diamant calls, “a mash-up of Nip/Tuck and The Man Who Came to Dinner,” will be performed on Friday and Saturday evenings from September 6-30, as well as Sunday matinees. Rehearsals will be held on nights and weekends during the month of August.

“We are looking forward to presenting these two, very funny shows,” said Hill. “Sylvia is a huge crowd-pleaser, and it’s an honor to be directing the world premiere of A LittleWork. Collaborating with such a notable author as Anita Diamant is exciting, both for Two Muses and local actors.”

Male and female actors are invited to participate in the auditions, which will fill roles for four men and seven women to play ages 20-50. No prepared material is required, as auditions will consist of readings from the scripts. Specific audition times will be scheduled by appointment in half hour blocks. Interested people should email
Auditions@twomusestheatre.org and specify the half hour block they desire. Participants are asked to arrive early to complete the necessary paperwork and review the scene excerpts. Callbacks will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 from 7:15 p.m.-9:30 p.m., and actors who are called back should be prepared to stay the entire time.
