GOODSPEED HOLDS NON-EQUITY AUDITIONS FOR LOCAL CHILDREN

Calling all girls! Here’s your chance to join a professional acting company. Goodspeed Musicals is holding auditions for local Non-Equity child actors (GIRLS between ages 6-8 and 10-12) for its upcoming production of Chasing Rainbows. Auditions will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Norma Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn.

Auditions are for the 2 Gumm sisters, Shirley Temple and their understudies. All candidates must be able to tap dance. Baby Francis – to play 6 – 8 years old – This is Judy Garland as a very young girl. Vocal Range: belt up to sustained Bb with a strong singing voice. Dance: must have some tap ability. Young Virginia – to play 10 – 12 years old –This is the younger version of the middle Gumm sister. Dance: must have tap ability. Vocal: strong singing voice. Shirley Temple – to play 6 – 8 years old – A blonde, curly-topped moppet as exquisitely adorable as a cherub in a Baroque painting. Dance: must have tap ability. Voice: strong singing voice.

All auditions are by appointment only. Appointments may be made starting immediately. Please call Company Management at

Interested performers should prepare one short up-tempo song. Bring a resume, photo and sheet music. Music must be legible and in the proper key (no lead sheets please). An accompanist will be provided. When you make the appointment you will be given a side to prepare in advance.

Candidates must be available for rehearsals, August 16th – September 15th, and performances, September 16th – December 4th. Rehearsals and performances occur in East Haddam, Conn.

Performers of all ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition.

Under the leadership of Executive Director Michael Gennaro, Goodspeed Musicals is dedicated to the preservation, development and advancement of musical theatre and is the first theatre in the nation to receive two Tony Awards (for outstanding achievement). Goodspeed produces three musicals each season at The Goodspeed in East Haddam, Conn., and additional productions at The Terris Theatre in Chester, Conn.
