Makyung is a traditional form of dance-drama from the east coast of Malaysia, particularly the state of Kelantan. In 2005 UNESCO declared Makyung a "Masterpiece Of The Oral And Intangible Heritage Of Humanity". "Makyung Raja Besar Negeri Ho Gading" tells a story of a King from the kingdom of Ho Gading who has seven princes. Often worrying about the future of his kingdom, the King summons his two fortune tellers for their advice about his kingdom's destiny.
As the fortune teller begins reading out his premonitions, the King learns that the fate of his kingdom will only be safe in the hands of his youngest son, 'Raja Bongsu'. Jealous and frustrated by the King's favour of the youngest prince, the eldest prince Raja Sulung leads his brothers in a plot to kill Raja Bongsu. Will he succeed and claim his throne?
