Fatal attraction

"Fatal Blow" is playing to packed houses wherever it is programmed. Event of the "in" Avignon in 2014. London, Berlin, Brussels, Antwerp ... Everywhere, the public standing, tears in his eyes, to applaud this hybrid project, offbeat, frankly unlikely.
Presentation by Renan Benyamina (April 2014)

Give interpreting the Baroque repertoire with musicians from Kinshasa (traditional musicians, popular dance, jazz), this is a singular idea which however no surprise viewers accustomed shows Alain Platel. In vsprs and pity! He already dénuait Monteverdi and Bach arias of their sacred rags to extract energy more direct, familiar, for experimentation of a mixed dance. It is precisely at the end of the tour pity! the cons-tenor Serge Kakudji, supported by the Royal Flemish Theatre in Brussels, had the idea of ??sharing opera arias with Congolese musicians. A workshop is taking place in the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where we spend the European Baroque repertoire sieve of musical culture. Fabrizio Cassol quickly joined the project, followed by Alain Platel. Fatal blow is primarily a concert, designed over of round trips, meetings and crossings. It is also an expression of joy that defies death and violence, figured on the board by a curtain of bushes in the background. A joy, emerging at the intersection of revelation - love at first sight - and fatality, Alain Platel was eager to share, as a more powerful message than regular manifestations of grief and compassion.

Remedial training, Alain Platel reveals the beauty of the body, especially when they seem twisted, old, damaged; it draws angles and forms a constantly renewed expression. Theatrical dance or singularly embodied theater, art center puts the human in motion, feeling their limitations, their potential and their capacity to be together. This pleasure of the community gives its energy to the ballets C de la B, the artistic collective perpetually-like blended family including Alain Platel is probably the pillar since the creation in 1984 of "Stabat Mater", the music of Scarlatti.
