Breakdown
seeking actors who make big, bold, yet truthfully grounded comic choices for:
VANYA
50s, living a small life in Bucks County, PA where he cared for his aging parents. He is logically resigned to his life, more or less. He has secret aspirations of writing a great play. He is a pot that simmers patiently until it suddenly and fervently boils over.
MASHA
late 40s/50. Vanya’s sister. A witty, charming, glamorous and successful Hollywood actress, she is deliciously, delightfully and shamelessly happy to admit that yes, it is all about her. Her star may be fading along with her youth, but she is determined to stay young and vibrant.
SPIKE
29. An aspiring L/A actor. Sexy and self-absorbed, he is Masha’s new boy toy. His claim to fame is his final callback for Entourage 2. He appears in his underwear and must be comfortable with his body.
CASSANDRA
Any age. A wacky and outspoken cleaning lady and soothsayer. Preferably ethnic -African American, Latina, Asian, etc
