By Matthew Paul Olmos
1st Reh: 8/15/16. Runs: 9/14-10/8/16

A twenty-two year old woman volunteers to replace a beheaded police chief when nobody else is willing to accept the position. She sets off a chain of reactions in her husband, the Narcos, and perhaps the entire country of Mexico.

MARI
Female, 22. Decided to become the new sheriff of her small town in an attempt to build a safe town to start a family.

HUSBAND
Male, 20s-30s. Mari’s husband, hoping to start a family but anxious about Mari’s safety in her new public office.

EL MORETE
Male, 20s-40s. The gunman of the cartel. Attempts to intimidate

DEAD POLICE CHIEF
Male, 30s-50s.The previous police chief, beheaded by the cartels but returns as a ghost to advise Mari.

GUERO
Male, 20s-40s. An American who’s come across the border to check up on this new sheriff and ensure that her presence won’t interfere with his boss’s drug trade.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to tech. Around you, a company of 14 is engaged in the very peculiar—and peculiarly impossible—task of making a new play. You’ll have a seat next to the sound designer as he mixes cues. You’ll eavesdrop on backstage gossip as it happens over headset. You’ll watch the director struggle to contain the uncontainable.

BEN
Male, 40s. He is the actor playing Charles in the show being tech. In the midst of a well-respected career in the theater.

EVA
Female, 20-30s. She is the actor playing Marie in the show being teched. The youngest in the cast but talented and well-liked.

SIGET
Female, 30s-40s. She is the actor playing Lucille and Old Lady in the show being teched. Well known actor in the community.

PAUL
Male, 50s-60s. He is the actor playing Carstairs in the show being teched. A legend of the downtown experimental theater world.

JAKE
Male, 30. He is the actor playing Richard in the show being teched. Has a burgeoning LA film and TV career. Very physically fit.

JAMIE
Female, 20s. She is the ASM on the show being teched. Fastidious and patient.

ELLIOT
Male, 40s-50s. He is the director of the show being teched. Has an extremely dry and sarcastic sense of humor.

MOLLY RICHTER
Female 30s-40s. She is the Stage Manager of the show being teched. Endlessly patient, but can be imperious when needed.

AD
Male, 20s. The Assistant Director of the piece. Ever-so-helpful to a fault.

ERIK
Male, 20s-30s. A Stagehand, always up for a joke or some teasing.

His heretical announcement, that both the moon and Jupiter only reflect the sun's light, is brought to the attention of the church and Galileo is summoned to the Vatican. His friends abandon him and his appeal to the Pope is intercepted by the inquisitor. Galileo recants, but even while imprisoned continues his writings surreptiously.

Male, 40-60. Brilliant scientist with a penchant for bucking authority but deeply loves his family.

Male, 18-30. Starts out as a young boy but ages into one of Galileo’s chief protégés and assistants.

Male. 20s-40s. Young monk who becomes inspired by Galileo’s work and becomes one of his proteges.

Female, early twenties. She is the summer maid. She is a buxom Irish peasant, in her early twenties with red cheeks, black hair and blue eyes.

Female, 20s. Galileo’s daughter.

Female, 30s-60s. An Italian Noblewomen and scientist. May sing.

In REALLY, a black woman takes pictures of her artist boyfriend's mom. As they jockey for a claim to him, they try to redefine themselves in the wake of his legacy. REALLY is a play about grief, intimacy, and the difference between goodness and greatness seen through the lens of photography.

MOTHER
Femaile, 50s-60s, lightly. The performer in this role should be able to relate to being a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant woman of a certain age; being charming, witty, attractive; being a woman who identifies herself as someone who can get along with anyone; being a woman who attended a 7 Sisters college, majored in art history, moved to New York, got married, and left the city to start a family; being the woman you want to get stuck in a corner with at a gala; being a woman who wouldn’t consider herself wealthy, but has never worried about money.

GIRLFRIEND
Female, 20s, lightly. The performer in this role should be able to relate to being not white or ever passing as white; being Caribbean or East African or West African or East Asian or South Asian or multi-ethnic: the daughter of a mother who isn’t white and wasn’t born here; being attractive, serious, shy; being a 1st generation-ish American – the child of immigrants; being a woman who grew up in an aspiring middle class household somewhere on the east or west coast; being a woman who has become very accustomed to a liberal urban way of life, a milieu is where she is comfortable, where she has spent the entirety of her post-pubescence; being a woman who has had artistic aspirations since childhood, who probably picked up and put down brushes and pens and instruments and clay many times before picking up a camera.

CALVIN
Male, 20s-30s, lightly. The performer in this role should be able to relate to being a white Anglo-Saxon Protestant young man; being an Artist; being Incredibly confident, with a boundless sense of his own promise; being attractive, exacting, unruffled; being a man who was star of the star his art school cohort and has always been influential, at the top, or on the rise; being a man who would never be described as warm, but is not purposefully cruel; being a man who simply lacks pretense and doesn’t value hospitality, compliments, or making other people comfortable; being a man also who was raised to be adored and demands that adoration; a man who has always made art, always known he would be an artist, and never worried about money.
