Seeking Actors for the Pittsburgh CLO Cabaret production of THE TOXIC AVENGER. A company of five actors play all of the roles in THE TOXIC AVENGER. All actors must be superb technicians who can create many different characters and utilize many different accents. See below for character breakdown.

THE TOXIC AVENGER is a comedy rock-musical based on the 1984 film of the same name and enjoyed a successful run Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Melvin Ferd the Third, your average scientist with an unrequited love for a blind librarian, runs into trouble when he discovers the truth behind the toxic pollution invading the fictional New Jersey city of Tromaville. Melvin’s unearthing lands him right in a vat of toxic goo, but his enemies plans backfire when he arises as a misshapen superhero, The Toxic Avenger.

Melvin Ferd the Third/The Toxic Avenger
Unattractive and sensitive, Melvin is an earth scientist determined to prove that Tromaville is in danger from toxic waste. He loves Sarah, though she fails to find him attractive. Even after he’s turned into a hideous monster with an occasionally unruly temper, he maintains his mission to save the city. Ideally 20-35 with D4-C6 range.

Sarah, The Blind Librarian
Blind, sexy and sensual, Sarah is not afraid to speak exactly what’s on her mind. She doesn’t see Melvin as anything more than a friend until he’s mutated into Toxie. Ideally 20-28 with G3-E5 range.

Black Dude
Appears as numerous supporting roles, both male and female, such as Professor Ken, Sluggo the bully, Little Old Lady, and Shinequa the friend. Must be physically versatile, and great at both comedy and dialects. Ideally 20-35 with A3-D6 range.

White Dude
Appears as numerous supporting roles, both male and female, such as Dr. Fishbein, Bozo the bully, Sal the cop, and Lorenzo the hairdresser. Must be physically versatile, and great at both comedy and dialects. Ideally between 20-35 with A3-B5 range.

Mayor Babs Belgoody/Ma Ferd/Nun
As the Mayor, she is corrupt and scheming, the person responsible for the toxic waste in Tromaville. Ma Ferd is the no-nonsense, but loving mother of Melvin. Actor must be comfortable singing a duet as two separate characters at the same time. Ideally between 40 -55 with G3-G5 range.
