Breakdown

Origin produces plays from Europe and we are always interested in meeting actors of all ages from Europe as cast throughout the year for play development, workshops, readings and main stage productions.

seeking:

Hans:
Early 40s – early 50s. Dutch, from a small village in Holland. Well educated, with a European sensibility. A former soldier with the United Nations peacekeeping force, but not necessarily a typical strong, athletic ''soldier type.'' He has perhaps let himself go a bit physically, and underneath his initially chipper demeanor there is a subtle air of defeat about him. He is a good story-teller, with charm and humor, but inside he is wrestling with the weight of the things he has seen and done. The play consists of interlocking monologues, so there will be a great deal of text to master. This role requires a strong, committed actor with great technical facility for language and dialects, as well as major sensitivity and depth. Please prepare with a slight Dutch or Mid-Atlantic accent.
