SEEKING

Actors/Actresses and understudies age 18 or over, with good comic timing, all ethnicities encouraged. See breakdown.


PREPARATION

Please prepare a short comic monologue, not to exceed 2 minutes. Bring picture/resume stapled together.

First rehearsal 2/21/17, first performance 3/22/17, dark Easter Sunday 4/16 so added 4pm show Sat. 4/22, closing 4/23/17, with a possibility to extend. Show runs 5 weeks of 5 performances per week: Wed-Sat nights at 8pm and Sun. at 4pm.

An Equity monitor will be provided.

Performers of all ethnic and racial backgrounds are encouraged to attend.

BREAKDOWN

The Complete History of Comedy (abridged) written by Reed Martin & Austin Tichenor. From the high-brow to the low, this fast-paced ride covers comedy through the ages, from Aristophanes to Shakespeare, Moliere to Vaudeville, Charlie Chaplin to The Daily Show. Find answers to the age-old questions, Who's on first? and Why did the chicken cross the road?

Please note that this contract does not offer health insurance weeks, but producer pays pension and workers comp. Understudies are paid 20 hours of rehearsal time, and $50 per performance whenever they go on, however they do not need to be present at performances.

Three actors: male or female, any ethnicity, agile, able to quickly morph into multiple roles in concise, sincere, energetic, fast-paced performances with virtually no down time

[REED] 22-55; Male or female, The enforcer of the group. He/she tries hard to keep things on track but is never afraid to let the discourse wander in the right situation. Should be physically agile and adept at physical comedy...Open to all ethnicities

[AUSTIN] 22-55; Male or female. This character is the erudite/ intellect of the group. Very smart, sometimes to the point of pretense. Should be able to play an instrument. sing well and be a solid improvisor...Open to all ethnicities.

[DOM] 22-55; Male or female. This character is the naive one of the group. He/she has an uncanny ability to quickly spout off information- a bit of a savant, both in knowledge and in behavior. Should be physically agile and adept at physical comedy and improvisation...Open to all ethnicities.
