PREPARATION

All should bring an updated photo & resume to the audition. Auditionees should prepare a brief song in the show or in the style of the show and accompany themselves on their best instrument.

IMPORTANT NOTE—ALL CHARACTERS MUST PLAY ONE OR MULTIPLE INSTRUMENTS (piano, guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin, cello, upright bass, accordion, ukulele, etc.).

Guy – male, 30’s, Irish singer and songwriter. Must sing and play guitar extremely well, brooding and charismatic.

Eamon – male, 20’s-40’s, Irish, studio engineer, happily married, guarded and not very forthcoming. Must sing well.

Da – male 50’s-60’s, Irish, Guy’s father, owns a vacuum repair shop.

Bank Manager – male 30’s-40’s, a prim man from County Cork, a guitar enthusiast, must sing well.

Andrej – male, 20’s-30’s, Czech, and employee at a fast food chain, eager to please and eager for any opportunity for advancement, a schemer.

Svec – male, 20’s-30’s, Czech, odd, quirky and joyful, loves TV and coffee.

Emcee – male, 20’s-30’s, Irish, genial, bold and quick witted, one of the boys, plays guitar really well.

Billy – male, 30’s-40’s, Irish, owns music shop where Girl plays piano, a big man with a big personality and a big heart, looks like a tough guy, tries to be one but can’t quite pull it off, must sing well.

Girl – female, 20’s-30’s, a Czech immigrant living with her extended family in Dublin and a single mom trying to raise her daughter, an optimist’s spirit mixed with a realist’s pragmatism, must play piano and sing extremely well.

Reza - female, 20’s-30’s, Czech, she’s smart and on the make for a good-looking successful Irish man, must sing well.

Baruska – female, 50’s, Girl’s mother, a formidable woman, believes a full stomach and full heart will cure anything, must sing well.

Ex-Girlfriend – female, 20’s, Irish, now lives in New York, sensual, funny and smart.
