CONTRACT

NYMF SALARY FOR ALL SHOWS: Please note: new in 2017 for ALL shows the New York Musical is now on a contract with Actors’ Equity. All performers will be compensated at a rate of $11/hr, with no hourly minimum per week, and a maximum of 36 hours/week. Health/pension will NOT be paid on this contract

SEEKING

Equity actor/singers for various roles in the following THREE productions.

- MATTHEW MCCONAUGHEY VS. THE DEVIL
- MISS BLANCHE TELLS IT ALL

If unable to attend the EPAs, and you wish to submit to a specific production, please submit to the submission contact name and address listed under each individual show - multiple casting offices are participating in these group days, so be sure to submit accordingly.

PREPARATION

Please prepare ONE brief vocal selection that is appropriate for the role(s) to which you feel you are most suited. An accompanist will be provided, bring sheet music in your key and you MUST bring 3 (THREE) pictures and resumes stapled together - NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE MADE (at least bring 3 resumes if you don’t have 3 pictures available). Representatives with casting authority from each show will be present, you are free to bring in something specifically appropriate for any of the shows, or perform ONE general selection that shows you off best - but, as in years past, we are NOT permitting more than one vocal selection at this EPA day.

PERSONNEL

Michael Cassara Casting is the resident casting office for the 2017 NYMF, coordinating 3 days of group EPAs (next EPAs are yet TBA). OTHER DATES

DATES: All shows in attendance are full productions in the New York Musical Festival (http://www.nymf.org) – with performances taking place between 7/10 and 8/6, 2017. Exact performance dates and venues are still being finalized. Rehearsals for most shows are anticipated to begin on/after 6/10, and will be announced at a later date.

OTHER

A non-equity open call for the entire festival will be held on May 4th – and details will be available on facebook.com/michaelcassaracasting and michaelcassara.net – as the time draws closer

EPA Procedures are in effect for this audition.

An Equity monitor will be provided.

DAVE ABBOTT (Any Ethnicity, 35) - Music Director and Pianist for Party City Now Dot Com. Cute, funny, smart, talented, but awkward and lacking self-awareness. Tenor. Piano skills a plus.

NANCIE FAITH HOPE CONNOLLY-PETERSON –(32-33) - Executive Director and CEO of Party City Now Dot Com. Perky, driven, but with a heart of gold. Married to Richard. Mezzo.

RICHARD PETERSON – (33)- Nancie's husband and Photographer and Videographer for Party City Now Dot Com. Lyric baritone.

VALERIE ASHLEY – (SOUTH EAST ASIAN, LATINA OR HISPANIC- 29-31) The Bride. Mezzo. Delicate as china but sings like Aretha.

TONY GRAMMONZONIONI - 32 - The Groom. An accountant. College acquaintance of Dave, Richard and Nancie. Lyric baritone.

HARRIS BARNSWORTH (AFRICAN AMERICAN )- 32 - An ambitious lawyer at a Human Rights Advocacy firm. The best man and Tony's best friend. High Lyric Baritone/Low Tenor.

DR. LARA LARINSKI – (40S – 50S SHOULD BE ASIAN, SEMITIC, MIDDLE EASTERN) . The minister for the wedding, blogger and call-in host on WBLAH radio. Contralto.

SEEKING:

[MATTHEW] Late 30s-Early 40s A loveable stoner movie star. He is well known his lack of wearing skills, chill attitude and rom-com movies. He signs a deal to win an Oscar and becomes a huge douchebag. Bongo skills are a plus.

[WOODY] 40s Hopelessly in love with love. Matthew’s best friend. Woody is loyal to a fault, He is not taken seriously as an actor, or as a person. Highly physical comedy.

[PENNY] Mid 30s-Early 40s. Matthew’s relentless agent. She has been with Matthew since the beginning, but wants more. She is hardworking, but never recognized for it. She puts up with a lot of crap, but is starting to get sick of it. Must be able to rap (Though you wouldn’t think so by looking at her)

[MEPHISTOPHELES] Ageless Demon. She is Satan’s Assistant. She is no nonsense, with a dry wit. She is a terrible person, and loves being a terrible person. She is addicted to her smartphone.

[ENSEMBLE] The ensemble is a modern Greek chorus.

[FEMALE 1] Dream Matthew & others- Plays Reporter, Member of the Academy, Ghost of Girlfriend’s past (Jennifer), Dream Matthew. Strong dancer.

[FEMALE 2] A part of our “Greek Chorus” Plays Reporter, Member of the academy, Ghost of Girlfriends past (Katie).

[FEMALE 3] President of the Academy and Others- Reporter, Ghost of Girlfriends past (Sarah). Strong riffing skills

FEMALE 4 Leonardo Dicaprio and Others- Leo is an A-list Hollywood douchebag, and he loves it. He is Matthew’s nemesis. Also plays Gospel singer. Strong comedic timing.

MALE 1: Plays Reporter , Member of the academy, Journalist , Waiter

MALE 2: Plays Reporter, Member of the academy, Announcer, Journalist

MALE 3: Fan, Reporter, Member of the academy , Journalist, Man in Bathroom.

[LEE] 22 years old. An out gay man who grew up in the 1950s and ‘60s. Passionate, assertive, seductive, sometimes destructive. He has a boyish masculinity, but he can also play a female with full commitment. Music written for baritenor but can be arranged to fit the performer. He also plays: BLANCHE, a steel magnolia of indeterminate age. She is fully in command of herself. Captivating, charming, and alluring. (Performed both in drag and out).
