BREAKDOWN

THE JAG

A World Premiere by Gino DiIorio

Director: TBA

Rehearsals: Begin December 19, 2016

Performances: January 14 thru February 14, 2016

Synopsis: Seventy year old “Chick” Chicarella has one prized possession, a 1966 Jaguar Sedan that is in need of repair. When his son “Bone” suggests that the two finish the car to finally sell it off, old family wounds and failures rise to the surface. They decide to employ “Carla,” a lesbian with Asperger’s Syndrome, to help them complete the project. Together, the three learn some hard lessons about repairing cars and smoothing out life’s jagged edges.

Seeking:

LEO “CHICK” CHICARELLA

70, difficult and cantankerous. He suffers from macular degeneration and other ailments, but he hides it well. He often places his hands on the Jaguar, checking for flaws and imperfections.

DONALD “BONE” CHICARELLA

40, his son. Tries to be a wheeler dealer, but all his schemes seem destined to fail.

CARLA CARR

30, a small woman, 100 pounds soaking wet. She has Asperger’s and a tendency to talk to herself in Tourette’s like utterances. She is very intelligent, but lacking in social skills. Carla is extremely quirky, with nervous ticks, but she’s pleasant and quick to smile and laugh. She only seems totally at ease when working on automobiles, often talking to the car she’s working on as if it’s alive. She tends to physicalize when she can’t find the words--kind of like Beckett’s “Winnie” with power tools.

MULTIPLE FAMILY DWELLING

A World Premiere by James Hindman

Director: Alan Souza

Rehearsals begin on or about February 13, 2017

Performances March 9 thru April 9, 2017

Synopsis: Secrets from long ago, best left buried, are revealed when Kelly’s best friend from childhood rents the upstairs apartment that Kelly owns with her husband James. The prospect of two couples sharing a house begins an avalanche of revealed lies and unexpected betrayals. No one is truly innocent and the two couples find themselves entangled in multiple deceits and betrayals, past and present. Multiple Family Dwelling explores the silent agreements we make with ourselves in order to survive.

Seeking:

KELLY:

Mid-thirties. Married to James for almost ten years with an eight year old child. Kelly left her journalism career for motherhood and now focuses all her energy on straightening up her neighborhood.

JAMES:

Mid to late thirties. After graduating from Grad School, James now works with special needs students in the local high school.

TIA:

Mid-thirties. Great sense of humor. Kelly’s best friend since childhood. She likes living a little on the wild side.

STUART:

Mid-thirties to forties. Blue collar with a bit of a temper. Engaged to Tia. His devastating first marriage makes him very suspicious of his Fiancé.
