Breakdown

Gigi
18. A carefree and vibrant girl living in Paris. Gigi is full of life and bordering on womanhood, interested in romance and all the beauty that life has to offer. Lyric soprano and a strong mix throughout the mid-range. Does not require high belting. The sound should be fresh with a wonderful ease to it.

Gaston
20s. A young confident Parisian heir who is bored of his life of mistresses and parties in Parisian society. Gigi teaches him the true meaning of love. Classic legit young baritone with a ringing, robust timbre. The sound should be warm and lush. Requires excellent musicianship.

Honore
Early 60s. Gaston’s uncle. A dapper and twinkling silver fox of a gentleman. He serves as our narrator. He has a romantic history with Mamita. Legit baritone with a large, a commanding sound, but always with complete finesse. Vocally also requires tenderness and ease.

Mamita
50s-60s. Gigi’s grandmother and guardian. Warm-hearted and very fond of Gigi. Has a romantic history with Honore. Alto with a very strong mix throughout the mid-range. Finesse is essential

Alicia
50s-60s. An elegant and exacting woman. Mamita’s sister and Gigi’s great- aunt. Intent on grooming Gigi to be a courtesan and to learn etiquette and charm. Alto with a very strong mix throughout the mid-range. Requires a commanding voice for The Contract

Liane
Late 20s. A socialite in a relationship with Gaston. Strong mix/belt in the mid-range with a ringing timbre.
