Please note that freeFall Theatre is located in St. Petersburg, Florida. We will not be holding auditions in NYC.

Breakdown

Preparation:

Prepare 2 contrasting selections - monologues, songs, or one of each - not to exceed 3 minutes. We'd like you to do well - please show pieces that show your range & ability as an actor, & more importantly, are tailored to what fits you best in our season.

Bring picture & resume, stapled together.

Bring sheet music in correct key. Accompanist provided, but may not transpose.

Particularly seeking actors who play instruments for Fiddler/Burnt Part Boys, and also actors with puppetry skills for Fiddler.

AVRAM
Runs the local bookshop and keeps the town advised of all the news in the area. Male, 40-60 yrs old, Range: D3 - Eb4

BIELKE
Tevye's youngest daughter. Takes lessons at home from Perchik. Female, 8-12 yrs old, Range: B3 - D5

CHAVA
Tevye's middle daughter who loves to read. Falls in love and runs off with Fydeka, a Russian soldier. Female, 15-20 yrs old, Range: B3 - D5

CONSTABLE
Russian military official stationed near Anatevka who knows the villagers well, however he has superficial relationships with the villagers. Male, 35-45 yrs old

FRUMA-SARAH
Lazar's Wolf's deceased first wife. She becomes enraged when her husband plans to wed Tzeitel. Female, 35-45 yrs old, Range: C4 - Eb5

FYEDKA
A strong, young Russian soldier who sees past his military obligations and falls in love with Chava. He challenges Tevye's imposed silence. Male, 20-25 yrs old

GOLDE
Tevye's strong-willed wife who wishes for her daughters to have good husbands and live easier than she and Tevye. Female, 40-50 yrs old, Range: A3 - Eb5

GRANDMA TZEITEL
Golde's deceased grandmother, who endorses the marriage between Tzeitel and Motel. Female, 60-75 yrs old, Range: C#4 - D5

HODEL
Tevye's 2nd eldest daughter, who becomes involved with Perchik. She eventually leaves Anatevka to join Perchik in Siberia. Female, 18-23 yrs old, Range: B3 - E5

LAZAR WOLF
The feisty, brawny butcher and the town's wealthiest citizen who wishes to marry Tzeitel. Male, 40-50 yrs old, Range: C3 - F#4

MOTEL
The poor and meek tailor who shares a deep love with Tzeitel. Sensitive and nervous, but sincere and friendly. Male, 18-25 yrs old, Range: E3 - F#4

PERCHIK
The outspoken student and visitor to Anatevka, who constantly challenges the traditions of the town. He eventually falls in love with Hodel. Male, 20-30 yrs old, Range: B2 - E4

SHPRINTZE
Tevye's fouth eldest daughter who takes lessons at home from Perchik. Female, 9-13 yrs old, Range: B3 - D5

TEVYE (ROLE IS CAST)
The likeable, hard-working, pious dairyman who always tries to see the positive side of life. He is a proud patriarch and father of five daughters, closely raised according to the old scriptures. Male, 45-60 yrs old, Range: Ab2 - F5

TZEITEL
Tevye's eldest daughter, who is madly in love with Motel. She is loyal to her family but typically challenges the town's traditions. Female, 18-25 yrs old, Range: B3 - D5

YENTE
The meddling matchmaker. She is a widow and village busybody who knows all of the town gossip. Female, 50-60 yrs old, Range: F3 - F5

SCROOGE (ROLE IS CAST)
Old man whose great wealth has turned his heart to stone. Deaf to the needs of his fellow men, Scrooge must journey through his past to regain the spirit of charity and kindness he had as a young man.

MAN 1
plays BOB CRATCHIT, OLD JOE - Baritone
- BOB CRATCHIT - a hardworking clerk in Scrooge's employment. Dedicated to his family, especially his young son Tiny Tim. Cratchit maintains a kind heart, even in the face of Scrooge's mean-spiritedness.
- OLD JOE - a ragpicker who scavenges off the dead

MAN 2
plays JACOB MARLEY, FEZZIWIG, TOPPER, THOMAS - Bass/Baritone
- JACOB MARLEY - returned from the grave to warn SCROOGE of the consequences of living the life of a miser.
- FEZZIWIG - A kind-hearted bank-owner who helps Ebenezer Scrooge get his start
- TOPPER - A guest at Fred's party
- THOMAS - Married to Caroline, indebted to Scrooge

MAN 3
plays FRED, YOUNG EBENEEZER - Tenor
- FRED - warm and compassionate, Scrooge's nephew, feels sorry for the old man, yet still obligated to him, being family
- YOUNG EBENEEZER - saving his money and running from a life of poverty, Young Ebenezer is still happy and sociable and deeply in love with Belle

MAN 4
plays GENTLEMAN 1, SCHOOLMASTER, GHOST OF PRESENT, GRAVEDIGGER - Baritone
- GENTLEMAN 1 - looking for a donation from Scrooge
- SCHOOLMASTER - Young Ebeneezer's schoolmaster
- GHOST OF PRESENT - a large jovial man who wears a long cape and has a wreath on his head
- GRAVEDIGGER - loots Scrooge's corpse/bedchambers

MAN 5
plays GENTLEMAN 2, DICK WILKINS, GHOST OF FUTURE - Tenor
- GENTLEMAN 2 - looking for a donation from Scrooge
- DICK WILKINS - Scrooge's friend, fellow employee at Fezziwig's
- GHOST OF FUTURE - frightful apparition of Scrooge's future. Walks on stilts.

- MRS. CRATCHIT - a wonderful wife and mother, hopeful and generous

WOMAN 2
plays GHOST OF PAST, VIRGINIA, CAROLINE - Mezzo/Soprano
- GHOST OF PAST - a young, twinkly, spritely apparition, full of the Christmas spirit.
- VIRGINIA - a guest at Fred's party
- CAROLINE - Married to Thomas, indebted to Scrooge

WOMAN 3
plays MRS. FEZZIWIG, CHARWOMAN - Mezzo
- MRS. FEZZIWIG - the cheerful wife of MR. FEZZIWIG the banker. Happy to reach out and help her fellow man
- CHARWOMAN - loots Scrooge's corpse/bedchambers

WOMAN 4
plays BELLE, TOPPER'S WIFE, LAUNDRESS - Soprano
- BELLE - young, lovely, and goodhearted. Truly in love with young Ebenezer, but saddened when it comes time to return his ring.
- TOPPER'S WIFE - A guest at Fred's party
- LAUNDRESS - loots Scrooge's corpse/bedchambers

TINY TIM
the young son of Bob Cratchit. Weak and crippled, but full of true goodness and hope.
