Equity actors and actor/singers for various principal roles and ensemble parts in the upcoming 2015-16 Season.

All roles will be understudied.

Preparation
Please prepare maximum 3 minutes material. You can either prepare two contrasting monologues, or one monologue and one song. An accompanist will be provided.

Bring picture and resume.

THE GUARD

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Henry/Rembrandt: Male, 50s-60s. Henry: the museum guard, bookish, grieving but in denial, the heart of the story. Rembrandt the painter: brilliant, grumpy, soft-hearted.

Dodger/Titus: Male, early 20s (to play 13-24). Dodger: training to be a guard, subversive, tattooed, seeker. Titus: Rembrandt’s son, clever, loves his father, pragmatic.

Madeline/Henny: Female, 20s. Madeline: art student, forthright, grieving, not afraid to argue. Henny: Rembrandt’s partner, loving, practical, grounded.

Jonny/Martin: Male, 30s-40s. Jonny: guard, military background, carries a gun, caring in his way. Martin: hospice care nurse, strong, knowing.

Simon/Homer: Male, 60s-70s. Simon: Henry’s husband, poet, an inherent grace and toughness. Homer the ancient poet: visionary, crude, crazy, brilliant.

Ebenezer Scrooge: 50s or older. Transformed from jaded, pessimistic banker to joyful and appreciative philanthropist.

Ghost of Christmas Past/Doll Vendor: 30s or older. Illuminates the joys of Christmas to Scrooge.

Ghost of Christmas Present/Fruit Vendor: 40s or older. Towering physical presence. Joyful spirit.

Ghost of Christmas Future/Clock Vendor: 40s or older. Sturdy physical frame. As ghost, communicates non-verbally.

Jacob Marley: 50s or older. Deceased business partner of Scrooge. Once bitter, he now cautions Scrooge against self serving practices.

Bob Cratchit: 30s-40s. Cheerful and devoted employee of Scrooge. Optimistic and caring father.

Mrs. Cratchit: 30s-40s. Loving wife of Bob Cratchit. Worried mother, harbors ill will toward Scrooge.

Fred: late 20s. Scrooge’s young nephew. Genial and appreciative of the Christmas Spirit.

Mrs. Fred: late 20s. Wife of Fred. Strong-willed, but with a generous spirit.

Mrs. Fred’s Sister: 20s. Lover of Topper. Sassy and opinionated.

Solicitor #1: 30s or older. Jovial lawyer with a hearty laugh and quick smile.

Solicitor #2: 30s or older. Generous lawyer, but a bit of a hothead.

Topper/Young Jacob Marley: 20s. Bumbling with words, pleasant attitude, boyish charm.

Fezziwig: 50s. Jovial merchant, former business affiliate of Scrooge. An energetic dancer.

Mrs. Fezziwig: 50s. Wife of Fezziwig. Spirited and joyful; a real firecracker.

Belle: 20s. Ingénue, love interest of young Scrooge. Beautiful, with a heart of gold.

Amanda: 50s. Mother to Tom and Laura. Has amazing strength and exceptional vulnerability. Possesses a tenderness that can be masked by cruelty. Can be overbearing.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Tom: 20s-30s. The play’s narrator. A poet with a warehouse job. Guarded, and longs to escape the world he feels trapped in.

Laura: 20s-30s. Delicate, fragile, like the glass figurines she collects. Lorded over by her mother, she has not ever had the chance to spread her wings.

Jim: 20s-30s. The gentleman caller. Tom’s friend, and a former classmate of both him and Laura. Handsome, charming, gentle, and has only the best of intentions.

Lizzie: 30s. Seems to be a woman who can cope with all aspects of life. Strong, smart, complex, but yearning for romance. Does not see her own beauty.

AVAILABLE ROLES:

Starbuck: 30s-40s. A big man, lithe, agile. A loud braggart and a gentle dreamer. Promises to bring rain to the parched people.

File: 30s-40s. The sheriff. Reticent, intelligent, a little bitter, but masked by mischevious humor. He smiles wryly at the world and at himself.

H.C.: 50s. Father to Lizzie, Noah and Jimmy. Powerfully set, capable, a good man who wants the best for his family and his community.

Noah: 30s. Lizzie’s older brother. Like his father, except pragmatic to a fault. A good person who cannot see the forest for the trees.

Jimmy: early-mid 20s. Lizzie’s younger brother. Sweet, caring, but still naïve in many ways. Looks older than his years, until he opens his mouth. Yearns for more.

Snookie: early 20s. Jimmy’s girlfriend. Young, pretty, and quite a flirt.

Male Ensemble. 20s-60s. The townspeople who play a variety of roles. Open to all types.

Female Ensemble. 20s-60s. The townspeople who play a variety of roles. Open to all types.
